background and objectives: bacterial resistance to antibiotics has motivated the researchers to evaluate the novel anti-bac- terial compounds such as some thiazole and imidazole derivatives. thereby, in this work, we investigated the anti-bacterial effects of one new thiazole and two new imidazole derivatives on bacillus cereus , listeria monocytogenes , escherichia coli, salmonella typhimurium...

Aq4{5-Nitro-2-furyl)-2-thiazolyl]acetamide (NFTA), fed to female Swiss mice at doses of 0.05 and 0.1% of the diet, induced a high incidence of lymphocytic leukemia and a low incidence of forestomach tumors. Several other chemicals structurally related to NFTA were also fed to female Swiss mice to determine structure-activity relationships with respect to organ specificity. 7V-[4-(5-Nitro-2-fury...

Forkhead box M1 (FoxM1) oncogenic transcription factor represents an attractive therapeutic target in the fight against cancer, because it is overexpressed in a majority of human tumors. Recently, using a cell-based assay system we identified thiazole antibiotic Siomycin A as an inhibitor of FoxM1 transcriptional activity. Here, we report that structurally similar thiazole antibiotic, thiostrep...

Treatment of N-substituted 2-(methylamino)naphthoquinones 3 and -anthracene-1,4-diones 4 with S2Cl2 and DABCO in chlorobenzene gave the corresponding 2,3-dihydronaphtho[2,3-d][1,3]thiazole-4,9-diones 1 and 2,3-dihydroanthra[2,3-d][1,3]thiazole-4,11-diones 2 by triethylamine addition, in high to moderate yields. The DABCO replacement for N-ethyldiisopropylamine in the reaction of anthracene-1,4-...

Fascin has recently emerged as a potential therapeutic target, as its expression in cancer cells is closely associated with tumor progression and metastasis. Following the initial discovery of a series of thiazole derivatives that demonstrated potent antimigration and antiinvasion activities via possible inhibition of fascin function, we report here the design and synthesis of 63 new thiazole d...

Fungus growth methods for estimating either vitamin B1 thiazole or vitamin B1 pyrimidinel have been used by Robbins and Kavanagh (l), Kavanagh (2), and Krampitz and Woolley (3), and a fermentation stimulation method has been described by Schultz, Atkin, and Frey (4). A procedure utilizing the synthesis of vitamin B1 by yeast from thiazole and pyrimidine has been used in this laboratory to estim...

The structure of ethyl 2-amino-4-tert-butyl-1,3-thiazole-5carboxylate, C10H16N2O2S, (I), and the structure of the 1:1 adduct 6-methylimidazo[2,1-b]thiazole±2-amino-1,3-thiazole (1/1), C6H6N2S C3H4N2S, (II), have been determined. The molecules in (I) associate via a hydrogen-bonded R2(8) dimer consisting of NÐH N interactions, with the hydrogenbonding array additionally involving NÐH O interacti...

Background: Rhodoccocus equi, Brucella abortus, and Pasteurella multocida are important veterinary bacterial pathogens that in recent years have been resisted to current antibiotics, and this problem threats the livestock industry. To control this resistant microorganisms, use of new antibacterial compounds, such as thiazole derivatives, in veterinary is necessary. OBJECTIVES: In this study, an...
