The transmittance spectrum of halftone prints on paper is predicted thanks to a model inspired by the Yule-Nielsen modified spectral Neugebauer model used for reflectance predictions. This model is well adapted for strongly scattering printing supports and applicable to recto-verso prints. Model parameters are obtained by a few transmittance measurements of calibration patches printed on one si...

Classical colour prediction models do not take fluorescence into account, and their predictions fail if fluorescent substances are contained in the inks. This is due to the fact that the overall spectrum of fluorescent substances depends on the spectrum of the light source. Furthermore, fluorescence is a non linear phenomenon. This study aims at predicting the spectra and the colours of uniform...

In vitro evaluation of sun protection activity of some medicinal herbs by SPF determination, to find out which herbal extracts have the best protection activity and can be used as sunscreen agent. Sun rays are the most environmental harmful factor which affect skin, cause sun burn and photo aging. According to the previous studies the plant’s flavonoids are suitable absorbents for UV rays. In t...

Photoinduced IR absorption measurements are reported on WO3. A photoinduced midinfrared small polaron peak centered at 4800 cm−1 (0.59 eV) was observed. The data were analyzed in the framework of the photon-assisted small-polaron hopping theory and briefly compared to previously published infrared absorption measurements in WO3 and photoinduced IR absorption measurements in high Tc cuprates. PA...

PURPOSE To determine the effect of riboflavin/ultraviolet-A (365 nm) corneal collagen cross-linking on the transmission of the ultraviolet-visible (UV-VIS) light spectrum through the cornea. METHODS Twelve New Zealand white male rabbits were used in this research. Cross-linking was performed unilaterally on the right eyes of the animals while only the epithelium was removed on the left eyes a...

Amorphous selenium films were produced by vacuum evaporation onto glass and aluminum substrates. The chemical composition of the films and interfaces were studied using scanning Auger electron spectroscopy. To gain some insight into the optical properties of the selenium films, we used the classical oscillator model to fit the transmittance spectrum.

-In this paper, the suspended-membrane-type guided-mode resonance (GMR) filter based on silicon with a narrow bandstop spectrum is experimentally demonstrated. The resonance wavelength of proposed GMR filter is controlled at 1580.6 nm with a bandwidth less than 0.92 nm. The improved spectral performance including the sideband can be extended as far as 415 nm with the maximum transmittance great...

In this research, Germanium-carbon coatings were deposited on ZnS substrates by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) using GeH4 and CH4 precursors. Optical parameters of the Ge1-xCx coating such as refractive index, Absorption coefficient, extinction coefficient and band gap were measured by the Swanepoel method based on the transmittance spectrum. The results showed that the refra...
