during a nematological survey, nineteen known species of plant-parasitic nematodes belonging to the family tylenchidae (tylenchomorpha: tylenchoidea) were collected and identified from different localities of west azerbayjan and kermanshah provinces, iran. among them two species, namely discotylenchus attenuatus and tylenchus bhitaii, are new records for iranian nematode fauna, the male of t. b...
The serological response to Trichosporon sp. was examined by the immunoblot technique. Antibodies to a range of antigens (200 to 16 kilodaltons) were detectable in three patients with invasive Trichosporon beigelii or Blastoschizomyces capitatus infections and 10 uninfected controls. High levels of preexisting antibodies may contribute to the rarity of systemic infections.
Two new species of Amblypsilopus Bigot with a key to species from Vietnam (Diptera: Dolichopodidae).
Eight species of the genus Amblypsilopus Bigot are now recorded from Vietnam. The following two new species are described: Amblypsilopus lacduonganus sp. nov. and A. longus sp. nov. Two species, A. basalis Yang and A. capitatus Yang, are newly reported from Vietnam. A key to the species of the genus from Vietnam is provided.
Twenty-six cases of Blastoschizomyces capitatus infection were diagnosed in 25 patients at 7 tertiary care hematology units in Spain over a 10-year period. Most patients (92%) had acute leukemia and developed infection during a period of severe and prolonged neutropenia. Two patients had esophagitis, and the rest had invasive infection. Fungemia (20 cases) was a common finding, with frequent vi...
We report 5 cases of disseminated infection caused by Blastoschizomyces capitatus yeast in central Switzerland. The emergence of this yeast in an area in which it is not known to be endemic should alert clinicians caring for immunocompromised patients outside the Mediterranean region to consider infections caused by unfamiliar fungal pathogens.
Fruit and soil yeasts isolated from the Amazon, Atlantic Rainforests and an organic farm were screened for killer activity against yeasts. Killer yeasts were then tested against the phytopathogen Moniliophthora perniciosa (syn. Crinipellis perniciosa) and a Dipodascus capitatus strain and a Candida sp strain inhibited its growth.
In addition to the three so far known species of Prosopistoma Latreille, 1833 from West Palaearctic region, P. pennigerum (Müller, 1785), P. oronti Alouf, 1977 and P. orhanelicum Dalkıran, 2009, two new species are described based on larvae. Prosopistoma helenae sp. n. has been found in Iraq (Tigris River in Mosul) and Prosopistoma alaini sp. n. in Algeria (Oued Isser, Sidi Abdelli). Critical d...

New records of L. (s.str.) championi Lohse, 1982, L. (s.str.) jaegeri Shavrin, 2012 and a modified identification key to the species of Lesteva Latreille, 1797 of Nepal are provided.
