Most existing universal approximation results for fuzzy systems are based on the assumption that we use t-norms and t-conorms to represent \and" and \or". Yager has proposed to use, within the fuzzy systems modeling paradigm, more general operations based on uninorms. In this paper, we show that the universal approximation property holds for an arbitrary choice of a uninorm.

The Hybrid neural Fuzzy Inference System (HyFIS) is a multilayer adaptive neural fuzzy system for building and optimizing fuzzy models using neural networks. In this paper, the fuzzy Yager inference scheme, which is able to emulate the human deductive reasoning logic, is integrated into the HyFIS model to provide it with a firm and intuitive logical reasoning and decision-making framework. In a...

Yager [14] discussed the issue of weighted min and max aggregations and provided for a formalization of the process of importance weighted transformation. Generalizing Yager’s principle we suggest the use of fuzzy implication operators for importance weighted transformation.

This chapter presents a new optimization method for clustering fuzzy data to generate Type-2 fuzzy system models. For this purpose, first, a new distance measure for calculating the (dis)similarity between fuzzy data is proposed. Then, based on the proposed distance measure, Fuzzy c-Mean (FCM) clustering algorithm is modified. Next, Xie-Beni cluster validity index is modified to be able to valu...

Yager @IEEE Trans Syst Man Cybern B 2004;34:1952–1963# introduced a continuous interval argument OWA ~C-OWA! operator, which extends the ordered weighted averaging ~OWA! operator, introduced by Yager @IEEE Trans Syst Man Cybern B 1988;18:183–190#, to the case in which the given argument is a continuous valued interval rather than a finite set of values. In this article, we utilize the C-OWA ope...

In the present paper a fuzzy bilevel optimization problem is under discussion. The purpose of the paper consists in finding an optimal solution for this problem. Besides the two well-known approaches (pessimistic and optimistic) there exists a quite new selection function approach, which we present here. A sensible attempt to solve a fuzzy bilevel optimization problem through reformulation to a...

In this short communication, we refute the conjecture by Fodor and Yager from [5] that class of inclusion measures proposed Kitainik coincides with based on contrapositive fuzzy implications. particular, show only holds when considered universe discourse is finite.

Fuzzy control is a methodology that translates “if”-“then” rules Aj1(x1) & ... & Ajn(xn) → Bj(u) formulated in terms of a natural language, into an actual control strategy u(x⃗). Implication of uncertain statements is much more difficult to understand than “and”, “or”, and “not”. So, the fuzzy control methodologies usually start with translating “if”-“then” rules into statements that contain onl...

This paper proves that in iris recognition, the concepts of sheep, goats, lambs and wolves as proposed by Doddington and Yager in the so-called Biometric Menagerie, are at most fuzzy and at least not quite well defined. They depend not only on the users or on their biometric templates, but also on the parameters that calibrate the iris recognition system. This paper shows that, in the case of i...
