Sixty patients suspected of having abdominal abscesses were evaluated by early and delayed 67Ga scintigraphy. The 67Ga scintigraphs obtained 6 hr after injection correctly localized 18 of 20 abdominal or retroperitoneal abscesses. An additional 13 patients with abnormal scintigraphs had clinically established infections. In no instance was an abscess or inflammatory focus present on delayed sci...

Current standards for detection of myocarditis in a clinical setting rely on endomyocardial biopsy for accurate diagnosis. With this technique a subset of patients with dilated cardiomyopathy show unsuspected myocarditis histologically. Endomyocardial biopsy, despite its specificity, may lack sensitivity due to sampling error if the inflammation is patchy or focal. Therefore, inflammationsensit...

The radioisotope 67Ga (T 1/2 = 78 h) in extensively used as single photon marker for detecting the presence of malignancy and the diagnosis of inflammatory diseases. The high tumor specificity of carrier-free 67Ga make it one of the most interesting radionuclides in nuclear medicine for in vivo scanning studies. 67Ga is a cyclotron produced radioisotopes and is one of the radiopharmaceuti...

UNLABELLED The objective of our study is to determine whether 67Ga SPECT can supplement CT and/or MRI diagnostic information by visual comparison of the two separate data sets in patients with head and neck tumors. METHODS A total of 50 patients with head and neck tumors (benign: 19, malignant: 31) were entered in the study. Three board-certified radiologists who had practical experience in i...

Diagnostic value of 67Ga-scintigraphy in chest surgery. Gallium-67 (67Ga) has a high affinity for malignant tissue. The diagnostic value of 67Ga-scintigraphy for differentiating between malignant and benign disease was studied in 109 patients with lesions of the chest discovered by radiological examination. Histological diagnoses were obtained in all the patients after the study was concluded. ...

Multicentric Castleman's disease (MCD) of plasma cell type is a reactive lymphoproliferative disease. While 67Ga scanning is useful in the detection of malignant lymphomas, its role in reactive lymphadenopathy is unknown. We report the absence of 67Ga uptake in three patients with MCD of plasma cell type and present a review of the English literature on this condition.

In order to evaluate the usefulness in deciding surgical indication in secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHP), 67Ga scintigraphy was performed in 37 patients of SHP before parathyroidectomy (PTx). The radionuclide accumulation in skull and submandible was classified into 4 patterns (skull-submandibular pattern, skull pattern, submandibular pattern and normal pattern). Serum alkaline phosphatase le...

67Gallium-bleomycin complex (67Ga-BLM) was prepared using Thakour method. Radio-thin-layer-chromatography of prepared complex showed A2 and B2 radiopeaks with Rf at 0.7 and 0.4 respectively with a purity of above % 95. Tissue uptake of 67Ga-BLM and 67GaCl3 in twelve tissues including tumor, blood, liver, lung, spleen, muscle, skin, heart, kidney, colon, colon content ,bladder and the tota...

This paper describes a quantitative procedure for the isolation of 67 Ga-binding granules (GBG) from normal rat liver and Morris 5123C hepatoma homogenates by a combination of rate and isopyknic density gradient zonal centrifugation. Another class of GBG has been found that is much smaller than the lysosomal GBG we have previously described. These smaller particles, or microvesicles, bind the l...
