The interaction of sulfur mustard with aminoacids and proteins has been investigated in this study. Rats were injected with sublethal doses of sulfur mustard subcutaneously and intraperitoneally. At different time intervals, plasma and urine samples were collected. The binding affinity of sulfur mustard with urinary and plasma proteins and enzymes was studied for the first time using non-i...

Introduction: Until recently, long-term exposure to cosmic rays (CRs) has not been recognized as a major environmental factor, which can alter and destroy organic molecules in the Martian surface rocks. This topic is critical because the entire strategy of the Mars Exploration Program’s search for the extinct life on Mars is based on the assumption that some original complex organic molecules w...

This paper presents the first real experimentations of the boosting techniques applied to Blast for producing a model of functional domains whose aminoacids primary sequences are not conserved during evolution. The BlastBoost algorithm is depicted, and first results are analysed, showing the relevance of our approach.

Addition of carboxylic acid dianions to bromoacetonitrile lead, in good yields, to the corresponding γ-cyanoacids, which on hydrogenation yielded γ-aminoacids. This two step methodology improves upon previously described results. Poor e.e’s resulted from our attempts to drive the enantioselectivity of this transformation by chiral amide induction.

The reactivity of dianions of carboxylic acids towards aziridines has been studied. Although, a similar reactivity to that of enolates from ketones, esters or amides has been observed, the method directly yields γ-aminoacids in one step. The method is complementary of previous results of enenediolate reactivity with other electrophiles. A comparative study with the reactivity of this enediolate...

Fast atom bombardment (FAB) technique was employed to determine the structure of polar lipids from the cellular membrane of Lactobacillus delbruekii ssp. bulgaricus and Streptococcus salivarius ssp. thermophilus. Analysis of spectra provided useful information about the molecular species and aminoacids constituents of the samples.
