This study examined the species of anopheline mosquitoes in Myanmar. Out of 36 species of anophelines distributed throughout the country, ten species were found to be infected with the malaria parasite. These vectors are presented with particular reference to their distribution and a summary of bionomics and infection rates.

An illustrated key to the female anopheline mosquitoes of Central America from western Panama to the southern border of the United States is presented with a taxonomic summary and distribution table. Thirty-nine species and one subspecies are treated: Chagasia (1), Anopheles (Anopheles) (25 and one subspecies), An. (Kerteszia) (2), An. (Lophopodomyia) (1), An. (Nyssorhynchus) (9) and An. (Steth...

The present investigation was directed to determine the pathogenicity; bioefficacy and larvicidal activity of Bacillus sphaericus M3 against Anopheline and Culicine mosquitoes. B. sphaericus M3 showed high pathogenicity of 85.0% and 98.8% to Anopheline larvae, using vegetative cells or spores, respectively. In contrast, pathogenicity toward Culicine larvae was 45.0% and 48.8% for vegetative cel...

BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVES Vector control will for sometime remain a primary weapon in the war against vector borne diseases. Malaria is of paramount importance in this with its associated high morbidity and mortality especially in sub-Saharan Africa. This study on generational mortality associated factors in Anopheles mosquitoes life-table analysis was designed to investigate the fecundity, level...

Nineteen species of anopheline and culicine mosquitoes are reported from larval collections made in northern Jordan and the Jordan Valley. Culex judaicus, Culiseta annulata, and Uranotaenia unguiculata are reported as new records for Jordan. The impact of agricultural development and man-made changes on the mosquito fauna of Jordan is discussed.

BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVES Jharkhand is one of the highly malaria endemic states in India and experiencing vast ecological and human-induced changes over the years. These changes have provided more favourable conditions for malaria transmission in the region. The present study was carried out to find out the distribution and prevalence of anopheline vector and non-vector species in District Ramgar...

Experimental infections of anopheline mosquitoes were carried out with Plasmodium falciparum gametocytes from 65 naturally infected patients in Cameroon. A comparison was made between infections with blood containing autologous plasma and blood in which the plasma was replaced with plasma from a donor without previous malaria exposure. A lower infection rate was observed in 50 of 65 autologous ...
