Posterior capsule rupture with herniated lens fragment in the vitreous cavity on magnetic resonance imaging has not been reported in India until now; however, it has been reported in other countries. Therefore, this study reports the case of a 15-year-old boy presenting with posttraumatic loss of vision in the right eye due to posterior capsular rupture and herniation of lens material into the ...

The purpose of this study is to describe CT and MR findings of early stage intraperitoneal rupture of hepatocellular Carcinoma (hCC). Nine patients (5 men, 4 women), with known hCC, displayed suspicious CT findings of early intraperitoneal rupture during routine follow up. These included a local fluid collection creating dentation on tumor surface, mimicing capsular retraction. Six of the patie...

BACKGROUND CONTEXT Most previous studies have investigated ligament mechanical properties at slow elongation rates of less than 25 mm/s. PURPOSE To determine the tensile mechanical properties, at a fast elongation rate, of intact human cervical anterior and posterior longitudinal, capsular, and interspinous and supraspinous ligaments, middle-third disc, and ligamentum flavum. STUDY DESIGN/S...

Nanophthalmos refers to an eyeball of short axial length, usually less than 20 mm which leads to angle closure glaucoma due to relatively large lens. Intra-ocular lens extraction relieves the angle closure in nanophthalmos. Cataract surgery in a nanophthalmic eye is technically difficult with high risk of complications such as posterior capsular rupture, uveal effusion, choroidal haemorrhage, v...

A careful management of hepatic capsular rupture, with massive hemoperitoneum which occurred 14 hours after an emergency cesarean section at 36 weeks of gestation, is meticulously reported. The grade of hepatic involvement varies from minor capsular laceration to extensive parenchymal rupture. Our management involved a combination of surgical interventions and aggressive supportive care. The pa...

PURPOSE To assess the safety and outcome of single-piece posterior chamber intraocular lens (PC-IOL) implantation in the ciliary sulcus following posterior capsular rupture during cataract surgery. METHODS Patients with posterior capsular rupture during cataract surgery with a single-piece acrylic IOL implanted into the ciliary sulcus were studied. Complete ocular examinations were performed ...

We present a case report of a patient who experienced a late, spontaneous breast hematoma 26 years after primary breast augmentation. Late hematomas are a rare complication of breast augmentation with uncertain etiology. In this case, there was no trauma, calcifications, or implant rupture. We believe the patient's hematoma was secondary to erosion of a capsular vessel due to capsular contracture.

PURPOSE To examine whether tissues of human capsular opacification and subcapsular cataract contain osteopontin, an adhesive matrix protein, and whether mouse lens epithelium expresses osteopontin after injury. METHODS An immunohistochemical examination was conducted to determine whether matrices in human postoperative capsular specimens and anterior subcapsular cataract contain osteopontin. ...
