A new method of estimating deoxyribonucleic acid homology is presented and used to measure the homology between bacterial plasmids of different compatibility groups. Deoxyribonucleic acid of the P-group plasmid RP1, originally isolated in Pseudomonas aeruginosa, has considerable (50%) homology with an N-group plasmid of the Enterobacteriaceae.

MISSOURI The enzymatic synthesis of DNA1 in sufficient excess over the DNA used to prime the reaction21 a has enabled us to examine the chemical composition of the synthetic product. As has already been demonstrated, this DNA consists of deoxy-nucleotides Linked by typical 3'-5' phosphodiester bonds, and all four of the deoxy

An ultrasensitive electrochemical impedance spectroscopic deoxyribonucleic acid biosensor has been developed based on the conformational change of the deoxyribonucleic acid recognition interface with lodging probes. Pairing process leads to desorption of deoxyribonucleic acid bases from the gold surface, leading to a significant change of the interfacial conformation and the charge transfer res...

Anti-deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) antibody was quantitated in sera from mink infected with Aleutian disease virus (ADV). During the course of the disease after experimental infection, the amount of anti-DNA antibody increased 60% initially, but then decreased to an intermediate level when measured 2.5 months later. The percentage of serum immunoglobulin, however, steadily increased over 3.5-fold...

A deoxyribonucleic acid ligase-deficient mutant is X-ray sensitive relative to the parent strain, suggesting that deoxyribonucleic acid ligase functions in repair of X-ray-induced, single-strand scissions.

Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is an important molecular target for anti-cancer agents due to its involvement in gene expression and protein synthesis which are fundamental steps in cell division and growth. A number of antineoplastic agents interfere with DNA and hence disturb the cell cycle. Compounds including planar aromatic rings are privileged scaffolds in binding to the DNA. This characteri...

Background: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a lifelong autoimmune inflammatory disease of unknown origin. An early diagnosis RA could improve the outcome. Several autoantibodies have been found in patients. Objective: To evaluate incidence against Sjögren's syndrome antigen A (SSA) and double-stranded deoxyribonucleic acid (dsDNA) patients to detect association between their presence severity mark...

Superinfection of an Escherichia coli R(+) strain with a closely related R-factor was associated with the accumulation of replicative intermediates of the superinfecting deoxyribonucleic acid. This deoxyribonucleic acid remains associated with a rapidly sedimenting cell component.
