Aspterric Acid, 6-Hydroxymellein, Arabidopsis thaliana, Aspergillus terreus Aspterric acid (1) and 6-hydroxymellein (2), inhibitors of pollen development in Arabidopsis thaliana, have been isolated from the fungus Aspergillus terreus. 1 and 2 inhibited the pollen development at concentrations of 38 and 52 microM, respectively. The microscopic examination of pollen development suggested that the...

The susceptibilities of 63 isolates of Aspergillus spp. to voriconazole were evaluated by a modified NCCLS M38-A method and the Sensititre YeastOne method. The overall agreement was 82.5%, ranging from 100% for Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus terreus to 62.5% for Aspergillus flavus. Discrepancies between the methods were due to higher Sensititre MICs. The Sensititre YeastOne method could have...

An Aspergillus terreus strain showed in vitro antagonistic activity against the plant pathogen Sclerotinia sclerotiorum (Lib.) de Bary. The interaction between A. terreus and sclerotia revealed that the mycoparasite sporulated abundantly on the sclerotial surface. Cell breakdown due to host cell wall disruption was observed in inner rind cells, by a scanning electron microscopy.

Disseminated infection with Aspergillus terreus is a rare disease that affects only the immunocompromised host. We report a case of systemic infection with A. terreus resulting in endocarditis, aortic embolization, and splenic infarction in a patient with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Diagnosis through peripheral blood culture, lack of pulmonary involvement, and onset of disease during complete...

The production of biomass and lovastatin by spore-initiated submerged fermentations of Aspergillus terreus ATCC 20542 was shown to depend on the age of the spores used for inoculation. Cultures started from older spores produced significantly higher titers of lovastatin. For example, the lovastatin titer increased by 52% when the spore age at inoculation rose from 9 to 16 days. The lovastatin t...

Two male patients with ankylosing spondylitis and upper lobe fibrosis and cavitation are described. A pneumonic disease in one was associated with mycological and serological evidence of infection with Aspergillus terreus but no other aspergillus species. A large pulmonary mycetoma developed in the second patient and among a number of other fungal isolates was found the yeast Metschnikowia pulc...

The susceptibilities of 40 clinical isolates of Aspergillus spp. (Aspergillus fumigatus, Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus terreus) were determined for posaconazole and voriconazole by the CLSI M38-A and EUCAST-AFST broth dilution methods. Where a discrepancy was observed between the methods, the EUCAST method tended to give higher MIC values. Overall, the level of agreement wa...

the use of biogenic selenium nanoparticles for various purposes is going to be an issue of considerable importance; thus, appropriate simple methods should be developed and tested for the synthesis and recovery of these nanoparticles. in this study, a fungus was isolated from a soil sample, identified as aspergillus terreus and used for extracellular synthesis of selenium nanoparticles (se nps)...

The occurrence of Microsatellites (SSRs) has been witnessed in most of the fungal genomes however its abundance varies across species. In the present study, we analyzed the frequency of SSRs in the whole genome and transcripts of two phyto-pathogenic (Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus terreus) and compared them with two non-pathogenic (Aspergillus nidulans and Aspergillus oryzae) Aspergillus. H...
