After decades of intensive control efforts, tuberculosis (TB) still remains one of the most important causes of morbidity and mortality in the world. Antigen Ag85B, a major protein secreted by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, is a vaccine candidate against TB. In the present study, we used Signalp, TMHMM, ProPred, BIMAS, SYFPEITHI, DNAStar and IEDB to predict the Tand B-cell epitopes. The analysis o...
BACKGROUND Loss of antibody reactivity against linear epitopes of parvovirus B19 (B19) capsid proteins VP1 and VP2 occurs after infection; however, it is unclear whether B cell memory is established against linear epitopes. METHODS B cell enzyme-linked immunospot assay was used to evaluate B19-specific B cell memory in volunteer donors (n=22). RESULTS B cell memory is maintained against con...
Background & Aims: Antibodies, well-known as immunoglobulins (Igs), are produced by B lymphocytes and specifically defend against pathogens. Igs are glycoproteins and have high diagnostic value in several diseases including infections (1). Igs are composed of light and heavy chains (2, 3). Each chain is comprised of about 110-120 amino acid residues which create immunoglobulin folds named domai...
background: hepatitis b virus (hbv) gene and protein variations are frequently been seen in chronic patients. the aims of study were to determine the genotypes as well as the patterns of variations distribution in chronically-infected patients from the central part of iran. methods: the surface gene was amplified, sequenced and subsequently aligned using international and national iranian datab...
Identification of B-cell epitopes in target antigens is a critical step in epitope-driven vaccine design, immunodiagnostic tests, and antibody production. B-cell epitopes could be linear, i.e., a contiguous amino acid sequence fragment of an antigen, or conformational, i.e., amino acids that are often not contiguous in the primary sequence but appear in close proximity within the folded 3D anti...
Abstract Stereotyped B-cell receptors (BCR) are frequent in patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). In cell culture and mouse models of CLL, immunogenic epitopes these BCRs were shown to trigger specific T-cell responses control development. These results suggest vaccination autologous BCR-derived peptides as a novel therapy for CLL. See related article by Rovida et al., p. 729
