INTRODUCTION Exudative retinal detachments occur as a result of fluid flow alterations and breakdown of the blood retinal barrier which is seen in inflammatory, infectious and neoplastic disease states in addition to abnormal vasculature. Ischaemic central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) is uncommonly associated with exudative detachments (1, 2). We report a case of exudative retinal detachments ...

Retinal vein occlusions (RVO) are the second commonest sight threatening vascular disorder. Branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO) and central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) are the two basic types of vein occlusion. Branch retinal vein occlusion is three times more common than central retinal vein occlusion and- second only to diabetic retinopathy as the most common retinal vascular cause of visu...

Retinal vein occlusion (RVO) is a prevalent retinal vascular disease, second only to diabetic retinopathy. Previously there was no treatment for central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) and patients were simply observed for the development of severe complications, generally resulting in poor visual outcomes. The only treatment for branch vein occlusion (BRVO) was grid laser photocoagulation, which...

OBJECTIVE To investigate baseline factors associated with visual acuity and central retinal thickness outcomes in patients with macular edema secondary to retinal vein occlusion in the Standard Care versus COrticosteroid for REtinal Vein Occlusion (SCORE) Study. DESIGN Two multicenter, randomized clinical trials: one evaluating participants with central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) and one e...

We report a rare case of central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) in pregnancy. There was dramatic deterioration of vision in both eyes through pregnancy despite repeated attempts of laser treatment and systemically controlled diabetes. Significant improvement was noted postpartum. Pregnancy is an aggravated factor of bilateral CRVO.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) can present with extraintestinal manifestations occasionally involving the eye. Retinal vein occlusions are rarely seen and have never been reported in the pediatric population though vascular thrombosis can be associated with IBD. Here, we present a case of what we believe is the youngest reported patient with nonischemic central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO).

Purpose: To assess the efficacy of intravitreal bevacizumab (IVB) combined with grid photocoagulation in the management of recurrent macular edema secondary to retinal vein occlusion (RVO). Methods: This is a prospective, non-randomized, interventional study. Thirty five eyes with branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO) and 15 eyes with central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) were treated with grid ...

We report a 19-year-old patient who developed a central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) with significant macular edema and visual impairment following intense exercise and dehydration. The patient was treated with 3 intravitreal bevacizumab injections with complete resolution. A review of the literature on the cause and treatment for CRVO in young patients was performed, focusing on the role of i...

Central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) is one of the most common retinal vascular disorders. Intense exercise associated CRVO have been described in otherwise healthy young patients. We describe a case of a young male ultramarathoner who presented with a CRVO, presumably associated with dehydration, making part of a marathon runner's retinopathy. Resolution of macular edema and subretinal fluid,...
