This paper introduces a new measure-conjugacy invariant for actions of free groups. Using this invariant, it is shown that two Bernoulli shifts over a finitely generated free group are measurably conjugate if and only if their base measures have the same entropy. This answers a question of Ornstein and Weiss.

Quasi-HNN groups can be characterized as a generalization of HNN groups. In this paper, we show that if G * is a quasi-HNN group of base G, then either any two conjugates of G are identical or their intersection is contained in a conjugate of an associated subgroup of G.

Key steps involved a highly regio- and diastereoselective Lewis acid assisted Diels-Alder reaction followed by base-promoted epimerization and a completely stereoselective conjugate reduction.
