This clinical case describes a treatment approach that combines, in a single appointment, a crown lengthening procedure and the final crown preparation for the restoration of a severely decayed tooth. This approach allows for a more accurate placement of the crown margin in relation to the bone crest while reducing treatment time.

BACKGROUND Crown lengthening procedures are a significant part of the periodontist's armamentarium. In order to recreate the clinical space lost to caries or trauma necessary for prosthetic restoration, osseous surgery is often required. If the procedure is not carefully planned, it may result in furcation involvement of multirooted teeth. METHODS Twenty-six subjects with 26 mandibular molar ...

There is little material in the literature that compares biological width measurements in periapical and bite-wings radiographs with clinical measurements. The purpose of this study was to compare measurements of biological width taken by three different methods which are frequently used for planning periodontal surgery - periapical radiograph, bite-wing radiograph and transperiodontal probing ...

Background: Biological width is a natural defensive space for periodontal tissue which important maintaining healthy so that it can support the success of dental restoration treatment. The localized alveolar bone loss, gingival recession, hyperplasia or combination all three be caused by poor biological restoration. obtained through crown lengthening when teeth have caries subgingival fractures...

AIM To analyse the effect of ferrule height upon the mechanical resistance and stress distribution within a root to explain variations in the pattern of root fracture. METHODOLOGY An extracted, intact, caries free, maxillary right central incisor was scanned by laser and then reconstructed on a computer to produce a model of the tooth and associated periodontal ligament. A simulated post/core...

Nowadays, due to recent developments and researches in dental science, it is possible to preserve and restore previously extracted cases such as teeth with extensive caries, fractured or less appropriate cases for crown coverage as well as teeth with external perforation caused by restorative pins. In order to restore the teeth with preservation of periodontium, we should know thoroughly physio...

Restoration of endodontically treated teeth becomes especially complex when the involved teeth have previously undergone trauma, treatment for caries, fractures, endodontic-access preparation, canal instrumentation and other idiopathic causes. Excessive loss of dental hard tissues and inadequate maxillomandibular relationship possess difficulties for the esthetic result of subsequent prosthetic...

Abstract: Taking into account the unusual crystalline structures of 18-crown-6/peptides/water complexes, the links between their thermokinetic behaviour and the structural peculiarities are discussed. It has been found that the peptide chain lengthening leads to an increase in the temperature and activation energy of decomposition. The thermodynamics of complexation between small peptides and 1...
