C, Reactive Protein (CRP) is a serum globulin (a or /3) which reacts with the somatic antigen C-polysaccharide of the pneumococcus in the presence of calcium ions in vitro, It is not a true antibody and appears nonspecifically in a wide variety of inflammatory necrotic, and infective conditions (e.g .• rheumatic fever and myocardial infarction).  CRP appears very early in several diseases p...

abstract          background and objective: vitamins c and e are  the two main antioxidants involved in prevention of type 2 diabetes, by reducing oxidative stress. the aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of vitamins c and e supplementation independently, on serum levels of insulin, high sensitivity c-reactive protein (hs-crp) and resistin in people with type 2 diabetes.         metho...

BACKGROUND An increased concentration of high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) indicates risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD). Because the available data is limited, a cross-sectional survey was conducted in 2009-2010 to describe hs-CRP distribution and its relationship with established CVD risk factors. METHODS A population-based sample of adults aged 35 to 64 years (n = 14,046) was ...

C-reactive protein (CRP) is a sensitive marker and mediator of inflammation, whereas IL-6 blocking therapy can normalize serum levels of CRP in chronic inflammatory diseases. We investigated the precise synergistic induction mechanism of CRP gene expression by IL-1 and IL-6 in Hep3B cells. In the early induction phase, IL-1 inhibited IL-6-mediated CRP gene expression, and NF-kappaB p65 inhibite...

CRP is resistant to attack by carboxypeptidase Y at 37 degrees C, whereas cAMP-CRP is digested yielding a core terminating at Thr-202 and lacking the seven carboxyl-terminal amino acid residues. A similar core (CRPCY) is formed when CRP is incubated with carboxypeptidase Y at 47 degrees C in the absence of cAMP. CRPCY has a more open conformation than CRP at 37 degrees C. While unliganded CRP i...

C-reactive protein (CRP) response was studied in 44 patients with acute angina pectoris admitted to the coronary care unit. 71 % of patients with acute myocardial infarction (MI)had positive CRP test while 73% of patients presumed to have unstable angina pectoris had negative CRP test. This test can be helpful in differentiating between acute MI and unstable angina pectoris.

OBJECTIVE C-reactive protein (CRP) is an important cardiovascular risk factor. Although the role of CRP has been implicated in atherogenesis, its direct effects on vascular cells are poorly defined. METHODS We investigated the responses to CRP in vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMC). RESULTS The present study shows that CRP induces parallel activation of the redox-responsive transcription fa...

C-reactive protein (CRP) is a major acutephase protein in humans. Elevated plasma CRP levels are a risk factor for cardiovascular disease. CRP is predominantly expressed in hepatocytes and is induced by interleukin-1 (IL-1) and IL-6 under inflammatory situations, such as the acute phase. Fibrates are hypolipidemic drugs that act through the nuclear receptor peroxisome proliferator-activated rec...

Objective: Aerobic training and Saffron has beneficial effects on inflammatory response. The present study aims to investigate the Interactive effect of aerobic training with Saffron extract on serum, tumor necrosis factor-α and C-reactive protein in rats following an aerobic exercise until exhaustion .Methods: This is a clinical trial, 48 Wistar male rats were assigned into following four grou...
