We have reviewed 42 patients who had revision of metal-on-metal resurfacing procedures, mostly because of problems with the acetabular component. The revisions were carried out a mean of 26.2 months (1 to 76) after the initial operation and most of the patients (30) were female. Malpositioning of the acetabular component resulted in 27 revisions, mostly because of excessive abduction (mean 69.9...

Computer-assisted surgery has focused on alignment of implants and soft tissue balancing but the end results during surgery as they pertain to long-term function of the implants are not yet realized. We describe two cases of coil malpositioning that occurred during endovascular occlusion of saccular basilar tip aneurysms with fibered platinum microcoils. The technique of endovascular coil extraction, accomplished successfully and without complication in both cases, is described and may be applicable to recently available controlled-detachment coil systems.

Chronic pelvic pain syndrome is a conundrum that may be explained partly by pudendal nerve entrapment (PNE), which causes neuropathic pain. In men with PNE, aberrant development and subsequent malpositioning of the ischial spine appear to be associated with athletic activities during their youth. The changes occur during the period of development and ossification of the spinous process of the i...

The central venous cannulation is commonly performed in the operating rooms and intensive care units for various purposes. Although the central venous catheter (CVC) is used in many ways, the malpositioning of the CVC is often associated with serious complications. We report a case of an unexpected malposition of a CVC in the jugular venous arch via external jugular vein.

Malpositioning of intravascular catheter is a known complication. We describe a case of a pregnant lady in whom dialysis catheter was inserted through the left internal jugular vein (IJV). It was molpositioned in the left internal mammary vein (IMV) which is very unusual site for a dialysis catheter. It was detected by chest X-Ray and confirmed by venography.
