Carpal malalignments in malunion of distal radius fracture are considered as an adaptive response of the carpus to loss of normal architecture of the distal radius. This condition leads to mechanical overload, ligament attenuation and progressive dynamic instability around the wrist joint. Radial corrective osteotomy is suggested as a treatment option of carpal malalignment after distal radius ...

In children cubitus varus is common after malunion of a supracondylar fracture of the humerus. Later problems such as tardy ulnar nerve palsy, snapping of the lateral triceps tendon or ulnar nerve and posterolateral rotatory instability are well documented. We present a case of anteromedial dislocation of the entire triceps tendon with loss of extensor power and describe the method of treatment.

Malunions are a well-recognized complication of pediatric supracondylar humeral fractures. Results of corrective osteotomies vary, and complication rates have been reported to be as high as 40%. Considering the high rate of complications for malunion correction, we investigated the feasibility of arthroscopy. We present a technique for arthroscopic supracondylar osteotomy and percutaneous pinni...

BACKGROUND Correction of a distal radius fracture malunion is challenging technically. These malunions most classically deform dorsally, but often the deformity involves three planes. METHODS Using an anatomically designed radial plate that takes into consideration the three planes, correction of the deformity can be obtained. In this video we see a patient with a classic dinner fork deformit...

BACKGROUND Complex intra-articular distal humerus fractures are relatively uncommon injuries but are fraught with poor outcomes such as malunion, elbow stiffness and deformity. Various types of internal fixation screw-plate constructs have been developed to improve fixation. Specifically, a 90 degrees offset periarticular system lowers the profile on the lateral epicondyle, yet it is unclear ho...

objective: to evaluate and report the functional results of surgical management of intercondylar fractures of the humerus in adults using a novel dual plating technique. methods: a total number of 60 patients with riseborough and radin type ii, iii, and iv intercondylar humerus fractures were operated with open reduction through a trans-olecranon approach and internal fixation using two plates ...

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Distal forearm fractures in children have excellent remodeling potential. The current literature states that 15° is the maximum acceptable angulation limit, though studies focusing on remodeling capacity above this value are lacking. We present data on the remodeling process in children with distal radius malunions with an angulation of ≥ 15°. PATIENTS AND METHODS Retro...
