This note provides an extension of the Fend-Feichtinger-Tragler dynamic game of offending and law enforcement to a stochastic framework. This allows the analysis to reflect actual crime statistics which displays randomness in its distribution. Stochastic paths of crimes are derived. The asymptotic stationary distribution of crime records is also obtained.

Urban crime has increasingly become a major issue for Chinese cities. Using crime data collected at police precincts in 2008, the main aim of this research is to examine the spatial distribution of property crime which accounted for almost 82% of all crimes in the city of Changchun, and analyze the relationship between the spatial patterns of property crime and neighborhood characteristics. Sta...

Crime tends to cluster geographically. This has led to the wide usage of hotspot analysis to identify and visualize crime. Accurately identified crime hotspots can greatly benefit the public by creating accurate threat visualizations, more efficiently allocating police resources, and predicting crime. Yet existing mapping methods usually identify hotspots without considering the underlying corr...

crime is the product of an interaction between the person and the setting. understanding crime has been the focus of researchers in both design and social fields for a few decades. the empirical research within the design field on the issue of crime has mainly focused on site-specific and situational features of a place. in the past decade, a considerable body of design research begun to devote...

extended abstract introduction zanjan has recently enjoyed considerable population and physical growth. the rapid irregular growth in population number caused unfavorable formation of informal settlement areas in the city. islamabad is of the largest informal accommodation regions in zanjan which was built as a consequence of massive rural migration during 1970s. although the area, at present,...

13 This report aims to show the distribution of crime in Germany. For this, police crime statistics (polizeiliche Kriminalstatistik – PKS) are treated so that they integrate dark figures (unreported crime) of crime types along with their specific grade of burden. The different treatments are based on own recent survey data. Two major trends are confirmed by both treatment methods: First, there ...

This article examines the spatial variability in the distribution of crime in the City of Savannah, GA, where a total of 12,458 crimes were reported in 2000. All crimes were geocoded and the same numbers of control locations were generated under the assumption that the spatial distribution of crime is a realization of an inhomogeneous Poisson process (spatially random). The control locations se...

Accurate real time crime prediction is a fundamental issue for public safety, but remains a challenging problem for the scientific community. Crime occurrences depend on many complex factors. Compared to many predictable events, crime is sparse. At different spatiotemporal scales, crime distributions display dramatically different patterns. These distributions are of very low regularity in both...

The main tasks of this study are to ascertain the geographic profile of the criminal to find out the anchor point based on the time and locations of previous crimes and to predict the potential locations of the next crime. Firstly, this paper utilizes probability and statistics method to calculate the possibility of every point becoming the criminal’s anchor point, from which this paper develop...
