We first describe how to “fuzzify” the estimated binary columns to create a [0,1]-valued column. Werefer to this [0,1] -valued column as the soft segmentation column of the noisy spectrogram column.Similarly to the collection of soft segmentation columns as the soft segmentation image, or simply asthe soft segmentation. The band-dependent posterior probability that the hard segmentation columnv...

In this paper, we present a detailed design of dynamic video segmentation network (DVSNet) for fast and efficient semantic video segmentation. DVSNet consists of two convolutional neural networks: a segmentation network and a flow network. The former generates highly accurate semantic segmentations, but is deeper and slower. The latter is much faster than the former, but its output requires fur...

We propose a new feature dimension reduction method for multimedia search. The main technique in the method is dynamic segmentation that partitions sequential feature trajectories dynamically. While dynamic segmentation reduces the average dimensionality and accelerates the search, it requires huge amount of calculation. Thus, our method quickly executes suboptimal partitioning of the trajector...

There exist several methods of calculating a similarity curve, or a sequence of similarity values, representing the lexical cohesion of successive text constituents, e.g., paragraphs. Methods for deciding the locations of fragment boundaries are, however, scarce. We propose a fragmentation method based on dynamic programming. The method is theoretically sound and guaranteed to provide an optima...

With the amount of multitemporal and multiresolution images growing exponentially, the number of image segmentation applications is recently increasing and, simultaneously, new challenges arise. Hence, there is a need to explore new segmentation concepts and techniques that make use of the temporal dimension. This paper describes a spatio-temporal segmentation that adapts the traditional region...

This paper presents a new probabilistic generative model for image segmentation, i.e. the task of partitioning an image into homogeneous regions. Our model is grounded on a mid-level image representation, called a region tree, in which regions are recursively split into subregions until superpixels are reached. Given the region tree, image segmentation is formalized as sampling cuts in the tree...

In concatenative speech synthesis systems the generation of a unit inventory is a tedious task. Hovewer, some applications demand multiple voices. A semiautomatic method to generate unit inventories is proposed. The units are segmented out of carrier phrases by means of dynamic time warping alignment with a synthesized utterance. This requires at least one existing inventory. The availability o...

In this paper we introduce a dynamic programming algorithm to perform linear text segmentation by global minimization of a segmentation cost function which consists of: (a) within-segment word similarity and (b) prior information about segment length. The evaluation of the segmentation accuracy of the algorithm on a text collection consisting of Greek texts showed that the algorithm achieves hi...

We present how to use English translation for unsupervised word segmentation of low resource languages. The inference uses a dynamic programming algorithm for efficient blocked Gibbs sampling. We apply the model to Inupiaq morphology analysis and get better results than monolingual model as well as Morfessor output.

The problem addressed in this paper is to segment a given multilingual document into segments for each language and then identify the language of each segment. The problem was motivated by an attempt to collect a large amount of linguistic data for non-major languages from the web. The problem is formulated in terms of obtaining the minimum description length of a text, and the proposed solutio...
