We report cuboctahedral Pd nanoparticles on WC synthesized by the polyol process using ethylene glycol with NO(3)(-) and Fe(3+)/Fe(2+) ions. The cuboctahedral Pd/WC shows much improved electrocatalytic activity for methanol electrooxidation in alkaline solution.

Electrooxidation of methanol was realised on platinum and perchlorate anion doped polypyrrole film electrodes in acidic media. A systematic kinetic investigation was performed and optimum experimental conditions for the preparation of the electrocatalytic system were determined. Monodisperse trimetallic AuCuSn nanocubes are reported where Sn and Cu are inserted into the crystal lattice following co-precipitation protocols along with Au. These trimetallics are explored further towards catalytic hydrazine electrooxidation and their enhanced catalytic activity compared with their bimetallic counterpart AuCu is reported.
Pd@N-doped carbon (Pd@CN) exhibited four and two times higher peak current density toward ethanol electrooxidation than Pd@active carbon and Pd@non-nitrogen carbon. Controlled experimental results indicated that the incorporation of nitrogen into the carbon matrix improved the percentage of Pd(0) and increased the binding energy of Pd in Pd@CN, and accordingly enhanced the catalytic activity.
AuPd/polyaniline was used for the first time, for ethylene glycol (EG) electrooxidation in a novel microfluidic fuel cell (MFC) operated at room temperature. The device exhibits high electrocatalytic performance and stability for the conversion of cheap and fully available EG as fuel.
