Silicon carbide (SiC) is widely used to improve the non-linear conductivity of resistive field grading composite. In this paper, SiC nanoparticles are modified into core-shell with silica (SiO2) coating on surface and characterised by transmission electron microscopy X-ray diffraction, respectively. The 7 wt% [email protected]2/epoxy nanocomposite then prepared, pure epoxy SiC/epoxy prepared as...

in this research, electromagnetic properties of graphene-epoxy nanocomposite up to 3wt% graphene, were investigated in x band. results showed that these nanocomposites do not have significant permeability so that it can be considered equal to 1. however they exhibit high permittivity such that real part of permittivity of 3wt% graphene sample is 8.4 in 8ghz and 6.8 in 12ghz frequencies, which a...

The micro layers micaceous iron oxide and nano-TiO 2 were incorporated into the epoxy resin by mechanical mixing and sonication process. Optical micrographs showed that the number and diameter size of nanoparticle agglomerates were decreased by sonication. The structure and composition of the nanocomposite was determined using transmission electron microscopy which showed the presence of disper...

The paper presents an effective implementation of a semi-concurrent multiscale method in the commercial finite element software package ABAQUS. The method is applied to the pre-localized damage initiation and propagation in the fully exfoliated clay/epoxy nanocomposite. The obtained results of the proposed method is also compared with the hierarchical multiscale approach. This method can be eas...

A new shape memory nanocomposite that exhibits rapid electrical actuation capabilities is fabricated by incorporating continuous, non-woven carbon nanofibers (CNFs) into an epoxy based SMP matrix. The fiber morphology and nanometre size provide a percolating conductive network with a large interfacial area. This not only gives high electrical conductivity but also simultaneously enhances heat t...

This study indicated that multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs)-epoxy composites can be used as effective lightweight shielding materials. The measurement results showed that highest EMI SE of 23.4 dB at 8 GHz was obtained for nanocomposite with 1 wt% MWCNTs. Dielectric properties and electrical conductivity values were supplemented by microscopic studies.

Crazing is a failure mode of bulk polymers and occurs under predominant uniaxial tensile load when the bulk eventually forms denser ligaments (or fibrils) while preserving its continuity. The bridging of cracks by such fibrils is an importantmechanism for energy dissipation and toughening in thermoplastic polymers. However, craze phenomena are not observed in thermosetting polymers such as epox...

In this work, we report the potential use of novel carbon nanofibers (CNFs), dispersed during fabrication of glass fiber composites to monitor damage propagation under static loading. The use of CNFs enables a transformation of the typically non-conductive glass fiber composites into new fiber composites with appreciable electrical conductivity. The percolation limit of CNFs/epoxy nanocomposite...

Wind energy is one of the fastest-growing sources of electricity worldwide. The emergence of upscaling on the WT size results in research and development on new materials, especially for the WT blades, that will also fulfil the LP requirements. In the present work, graphene oxide (GO) will be utilised as a nanofiller for epoxy resin systems used as binding polymers or adhesives for CFRP compone...
