Abstract Melon (Cucumis melo L.) is an important vegetable crop that has extensive history of cultivation. However, the genome wild and semi-wild melon types can be used for analysis agronomic traits not yet available. Here we report a chromosome-level T2T assembly 821 (C. ssp. agrestis var. acidulus), with two haplotypes ~373 Mb ~364 Mb, respectively. Comparative discovered significant number ...

We use the results of recent lattice calculations to obtain (part of) the mass spectrum of continuum SU(2) gauge theory in both 2+1 and 3+1 dimensions. We compare these spectra to the predictions of the Isgur-Paton flux tube model for glueballs. We use this comparison to test the reliability of different aspects of the model and also to learn which aspects of the lattice calculations it is impo...

Rodents might maintain tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV) in nature through latent persistent infections. During 2 subsequent winters, 2008 and 2009, in Finland, we detected RNA of European and Siberian subtypes of TBEV in Microtus agrestis and Myodes glareolus voles, respectively. Persistence in rodent reservoirs may contribute to virus overwintering.

BACKGROUND South African plant species of the genera Fadogia, Pavetta and Vangueria (all belonging to Rubiaceae) are known to cause gousiekte (literally 'quick disease'), a fatal cardiotoxicosis of ruminants characterised by acute heart failure four to eight weeks after ingestion. Noteworthy is that all these plants harbour endophytes in their leaves: nodulating bacteria in specialized nodules ...

Extensive biochemical testing and 16S rRNA and rpoB sequence analysis revealed that clinical strain CF01Ent1, initially identified as Buttiauxella agrestis by the use of Api 32 biochemical strips, is a new organism in the Enterobacteriaceae family. It produced an inducible AmpC-type -lactamase whose sequence shares 69 to 72% identity with those of the other AmpC-type -lactamases of Enterobacter...
