The uptake of carbon dioxide and nitrogen gas by zeolite NaKA was studied. A very high ideal CO(2)-over-N(2) selectivity and a high CO(2) capacity were observed at an optimal K(+) content of 17 at.%. NaKA is a very promising adsorbent for CO(2) separation from water-free flue gases.

Multicomponent Infrared Gas analyzers have been a workhorse as Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) in the waste-to-energy (WTE) application for the past two decades. It is the technique of choice for many facilities. With obsolescence for electronics, instrumentation and data acquisition systems (DAS) averaging less than 10 years, the earlier multicomponent CEMS are being upgraded to...

This study displays the results obtained with a planar, impedancemetric sensor having a NiCr2O4SE and a specially manufactured FSZ electrolyte. The sensing characteristics to NO and to O2/NO-gas mixtures were analyzed at temperatures up to 700 °C. The cross-selectivity to other flue-gases was tested. As a new capable type of sensing parameter the total impedance was applied.

Adsorption of flue gases by single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) has been studied by means of Monte Carlo simulations. The flue gas is modeled as a ternary mixture of N2, CO2, and O2, emulating realistic compositions of the emissions from power plants. The adsorbed flue gas is in equilibrium with a bulk gas characterized by temperature T, pressure p, and mixture composition. We have considered ...

Oxy-fuel coal combustion with flue gas re-circulation is known to be one of the most promising methods for reducing CO2 emissions from coal combustion power plants. In the oxy-fuel system, the combustion atmosphere consists of only O2 separated from air and flue gas re-circulated from a stack. Therefore, the flue gas is dominated by CO2 without any nitrogen gas. The most attractive potential as...

The vanadium-based SCR catalyst used for NOx-control promotes the oxidation of elemental mercury Hg to Hg in flue gases from coal-fired power plants. Hg is water soluble and can effectively be captured in a wet scrubber. This means that the combination of an SCR with a wet FGD can offer an effective control option for mercury. Laboratory experiments have been carried out to elucidate and quanti...

conceptual design of a waste heat recovery cycle is carried out in attempt to enhance the thermal efficiency of a steam power plant. in the recovery system, super-critical an co2 is employed as the working fluid operating in a brayton cycle. low grade heat rejected by the flue gases through the stack is used as the primary heat source, while a secondary heat exchanger utilizes the hot gases lea...

This paper presents and analyses results from experimental and CFD work undertaken on a 24 kW domestic natural-draught gas fired boiler. The effect of chimney height on boiler flue gases is being considered to address the need for increasing concern over environmental safety as well as saving of energy. A multi-component analysis computer (DELTA 2000 CD) is used to analyze the flue gases. 3D nu...
