We investigate the dependence on parameters for the discrete boundary value problem connected with the Emden-Fowler equation. A variational method is used in order to obtain a general scheme allowing for investigation the dependence on paramaters of discrete boundary value problems. MSC Subject Classification: 34B16, 39M10
We consider the following anisotropic Emden-Fowler equation ∇(a(x)∇u) + εa(x)e = 0 in Ω, u = 0 on ∂Ω where Ω ⊂ R is a bounded smooth domain and a(x) is a positive smooth function. We investigate the effect of anisotropic coefficient a(x) on the existence of bubbling solutions. We show that at given local maximum points of a(x), there exists arbitrarily many bubbles. As a consequence, the quanti...
Abstract We study the asymptotic behavior of local solutions to Yamabe equation near an isolated singularity, when metric is not conformally flat. prove that, in dimension 6, any solution asymptotically close a Fowler solution, which extension same result for lower dimensions by F.C. Marques 2008.
We are concerned with proving that solutions of certain dynamical systems on time scales satisfy some monotoneity conditions. These results then give important results for nth order linear scalar equations. We then give a related result for a third order nonlinear (Emden–Fowler type) dynamic equation.
Singular initial value problems are investigated. We extend a decomposition method for di¤erent type Emden-Fowler-like equations. Some special cases of the equation are solved as examples, to illustrate the reliableness of the method. The solutions are constructed in the form of a convergent series.
A Contractor Iteration Method Using Eigenpairs for Positive Solutions of Nonlinear Elliptic Equation
By means of Contractor Iteration Method, we solve and visualize the Lane-Emden(-Fowler) equation Δu+ u = 0, in Ω, u = 0, on ∂Ω. It is shown that the present method converges quadratically as Newton’s method and the computation of Contractor Iteration Method is cheaper than the Newton’s method. We are interested in a nonlocal conservation law which describes the morphodynamics of sand dunes sheared by a fluid flow, recently proposed by Andrew C. Fowler and studied by [1, 2]. We prove that constant solutions of Fowler’s equation are non-linearly unstable. We also illustrate this fact using a finite difference scheme.
A class of finite difference schemes for solving a fractional anti-diffusive equation, recently proposed by Andrew C. Fowler to describe the dynamics of dunes, is considered. Their linear stability is analyzed using the standard Von Neumann analysis: stability criteria are found and checked numerically. Moreover, we investigate the consistency and convergence of these schemes.
