Thallium 201 whole body scintigraphy was performed in a 30 year old patient with diffuse osseous metastatic disease secondary to glioblastoma multiforme. Multiple sites of Thallium uptake correlated with the findings on serial bone scans and radiographs. Bone biopsy of a lower lumbar vertebra confirmed that the metastases were of glial origin.

Glioblastoma multiforme is the most aggressive and common primary brain tumor, and is virtually incurable due to its therapeutic resistance to radiation and chemotherapy. Curcumin is a well-known phytochemical exhibiting antitumor activity on many human cancers including glioblastoma multiforme. Given the unique miRNA expression profiles in cancer cells compared to non-cancerous cells, we inves...

BACKGROUND Hitherto uncommon, the incidence of extracranial metastases of primary brain malignancies may increase, with improved treatment methods and longer patient survival. Fine needle aspiration biopsy is a simple, safe and reliable method to diagnose metastatic malignancy. It has definite advantages over tissue biopsy, which is more invasive and is of higher risk to the patient. Ours is a ...

A pooled analysis was conducted to examine the association between select variants in DNA repair genes and glioblastoma multiforme, the most common and deadliest form of adult brain tumors. Genetic data for approximately 1,000 glioblastoma multiforme cases and 2,000 controls were combined from four centers in the United States that have conducted case-control studies on adult glioblastoma multi...

Glioblastoma multiforme, a neoplasm with variable histological and biological features, is characterized by diverse imaging features, including highly heterogeneous enhancement. This reflects variable disruption of the blood brain barrier and inherent differences in the vascularity of the tumor. Experience in treating malignant glioma with antiangiogenic drugs is growing, and the most commonly ...

BACKGROUND Previous studies have shown that intratumoral hemorrhage is a common finding in glioblastoma multi-forme, but is rarely observed in primary central nervous system lymphoma. Our aim was to reevaluate whether intratumoral hemorrhage observed on T2-weighted imaging (T2WI) as gross intratumoral hemorrhage and on susceptibility-weighted imaging as intratumoral susceptibility signal can di...

Glioblastoma multiforme are highly malignant brain tumours with frequent genetic and epigenetic alterations. The poor clinical outcome of these tumours necessitates the development of new treatment options. Immunotherapies for glioblastoma multiforme including PD1/PD-L1 inhibition are currently tested in ongoing clinical trials. The purpose of this study was to investigate the molecular backgro...

Purpose: Glioblastoma multiforme is a deadly primary brain cancer. Because the tumor kills due to recurrences, we tested the hypothesis that a new treatment would lead to immunological memory in a rat model of recurrent glioblastoma multiforme. Experimental Design: Wedeveloped a combined treatment using an adenovirus (Ad) expressing fms-like tyrosine kinase-3 ligand (Flt3L), which induces the i...

Glioblastoma multiforme is an aggressive tumor associated with a high rate of recurrence even after maximal therapy. In a disease with poor prognosis and rapid deterioration, early detection of tumor progression is necessary to make timely treatment decisions or to initiate end of life care. We identify two cases where Humphrey visual field testing predated magnetic resonance imaging and positr...
