The influence of the in-plane displacement and double-aperture orientation on the slope fringe formation in double-shearing-aperture speckle interferometry is discussed in detail. The research results show that the two in-plane displacement components, one parallel to and the other perpendicular to the shearing direction, have an influence on the slope fringe formation and that the double-apert...

In this note we describe a qualitatively different approach to measure the temporal correlation functions of multiply scattered light from fluctuating dense random media. Our approach combines diffusing-wave spectroscopy with Micbelson interferometry. Among other things, the new approach should enable experimenters to perform correlation measurements on very short time scales. The method is des...

A general derivation of the multi-pion correlation function for completely chaotic source is given. Its effects on the pion multiplicity distribution, twopion interferometry are studied. A generalized multi-pion correlation function for a partially coherent source is also discussed.

A critical summary is given of the present status of the study of Bose-Einstein Correlations in W-pair production at LEP II. In particular, the evidence is reviewed for or against the existence of Bose-Einstein correlations between pions originating both from a different of the two W's. If present, such an inter-W interference would not only form a potential bias in the determination of the W m...

We describe three different interferometric techniques (electronic speckle pattern interferometry, digital holographic interferometry, and digital shearography), using a long-wave infrared radiation produced by a CO(2) laser and recorded on a microbolometer array. Experimental results showing how these methods can be used for nondestructive testing are presented. Advantages and disadvantages of...

Measuring deformation of vibrating specimens whose dimensions are in the submillimeter range introduces a number of difficulties using laser interferometry. Normal interferometry is not suitable because of a phase ambiguity problem. In addition, the noise effect is much more serious in the measurement of small objects because a high-magnification lens is used. We present a method for full-field...

In this study, experimental data from two artwork specimens was acquired and processed by pulsed phase thermography (PPT) and holographic interferometry. The first specimen was a wood painting with a variety of damages typical of this kind of pieces. A comparative study between thermography and interferometry results showed the potential complementarities of both techniques. The second inspecte...

A new robust and fast method for non-interactive line segmentation of interferograms is proposed. Fringe contours are represented as a set of polygons using a new technique for contour approximation. The method has been developed for application in interferometry with continuously deforming objects. Its application to real-time holographic interferometry in nondestructive testing is shown.

We present the achievement of the european PHIFE project (Pulsed Holographic Interferometer for the analysis of Fast Events) concerning the development of holographic head principles connected to a YAG Q-switch double pulsed laser. Based on the results of a first laboratory development phase, a final prototype has been designed and built that incorporates both the laser and a modular holographi...

In this paper, we present a procedure to map subsidence at the regional scale by means of persistent scatterer interferometry (PSI). Subsidence analysis is usually restricted to plain areas and where the presence of this phenomenon is already known. The proposed procedure allows a fast identification of subsidences in large and hilly-mountainous areas. The test area is the Tuscany region, in Ce...
