Acromegalomma, nomen novum, is introduced as a replacement name for the polychaete genus Megalomma Johansson, 1926 (Annelida, Sabellidae), preoccupied by Megalomma Westwood, 1842 (Insecta, Coleoptera, Carabidae). The historical background of the homonymy and a full list with 36 new combinations in the new genus are included, while two species are considered as species inquirenda.
At the present time the distinction between compatible versus incompatible co-hyponyms and polysemy versus homonymy is not expressible in WordNet. We aim to enhance WordNet’s expressiveness, through GL inheritance patterns. Hyponymy will then be reflected in the qualia structures shared by the hyponyms and the hyperonym.
Semantic networks have been used successfully to explain access to the mental lexicon. Topological analyses of these networks have focused on acquisition and generation. We extend this work to look at models that distinguish semantic relations. We find the scale-free properties of association networks are not found in synonymy-homonymy networks, and that this is consistent with studies of child...
We present an algorithm that acquires words (pairings of phonological forms and semantic representations) from larger utterances of unsegmented phoneme sequences and semantic representations. The algorithm maintains from utterance to utterance only a single coherent dictionary, and learns in the presence of homonymy, synonymy, and noise. Test results over a corpus of utterances generated from t...
The recent transfer of Elthusa parva (Richardson, 1910) from Ceratothoa created a homonymy with Elthusa parva (Nierstrasz, 1915). Elthusa parva (Richardson, 1910) has priority and Elthusa nierstraszinom. n. is proposed as the new replacement name for the junior secondary homonym Elthusa parva (Nierstrasz, 1915).
We focus on a problem of homonymy and polysemy in morphological dictionaries on the example of the Czech morphological dictionary MorfFlex CZ [2]. It is not necessary to distinguish meanings in morphological dictionaries unless the distinction has consequencies in word formation or syntax. The contribution proposes several important rules and principles for achieving consistency.
