This paper proposes a speciication language, Hybrid Projection Temporal Logic (HPTL), for the purpose of modelling, analyzing and verifying hybrid systems consisting of a non-trivial mixture of discrete and continuous components. The syntax and semantics of HPTL are presented, and some examples of hybrid systems are modelled with HPTL to illustrate the formalism.
Introduction The two-hybrid system (THS), first introduced by Fields and Song (1989) (Ref. 1), is a powerful technique for identifying new proteins involved in specific biological processes. It allows for the rapid isolation of the gene that codes for a protein that interacts with a specific protein of interest. Here, we present not a review of the current THS technology but, rather, a comprehe...
One problem of modelling hybrid systems with existing notations of hybrid automata is that there is no modular structure in the model. We introduce an extended modelling notation which allows the modelling of a system as a hierarchical structure of modules. The modules are capable of communicating through the elements of an explicitly defined interface. The interface consists of signals and var...

The original yeast two-hybrid system and its variants have proven to be effective tools for identification and analysis of protein-protein, protein-DNA and protein-RNA interactions. The two-hybrid assay is being applied to the entire complement of proteins of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae to characterize the network of protein-protein interactions in the eukaryotic cell. The development of...
This is a summary of the design ofHydra, a language prototype for Functional Hybrid Modeling. Hydra is used for non-causal modeling specifications, and based on first-class signal relations, complex systems can be composed by components in a functional way. Reactivity is introduced in Hydra to handle event and discontinuity in such hybrid systems. The experience in studying the semantics and im...
With the availability of several completed genome sequences, the analyses of large-scale interactions among the proteins encoded by them become important to decipher the complexities of biological systems involving intricate networks of macromolecular interactions. Various approaches have been developed to generate systematic genome-wide protein interaction maps (PIMs), which provide functional...
In this paper, we consider the hierarchical control problem for a class of uncertain hybrid dynamical systems. The continuous dynamics of this class of uncertain hybrid systems are described by linear difference state equations, whose right side functions are unknown but lie within some convex hulls of known functions. Our control objective is for the closed loop system to exhibit a desired beh...
