Electrochemical deposition from a 0.1 M sodium sulphate solution, containing Cu2+ (adjusted to pH 3 with hydrochloric acid) produced a well defined copper nanoparticle deposit on the surface of a boron doped diamond electrode. Changing conditions such as potential (-0.8, -1.0 and -1.2 V), time (5, 2 and 0.5 s) and concentration of Cu2+ (500, 250 and 100 microM) was found to give copper nanopart...

Soluble methane monooxygenase (sMMO) activity in Methylosinus trichosporium OB3b was found to be more strongly affected as copper-to-biomass ratios changed in a newly developed medium, M2M, which uses pyrophosphate for metal chelation, than in nitrate mineral salts (NMS), which uses EDTA. When M2M medium was amended with EDTA, sMMO activity was similar to that in NMS medium, indicating that EDT...

Original scientific paper Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation (PEO) of NiTi alloy was studied in the electrolyte consisting generally of concentrated orthophosphoric acid with an addition of copper II nitrate. The PEO process was used to obtain a nanostructured coating on the Nitinol surface. The surface layer analyses methods, such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with the energy-dispersive X-r...

In this work, two bioactive glass powders (SBA2 and SBA3) were doped with Cu by means of the ion-exchange technique in aqueous solution. SBA2 glass was subjected to the ion-exchange process by using different Cu salts (copper(II) nitrate, chloride, acetate, and sulphate) and concentrations. Structural (X-ray diffraction-XRD), morphological (Scanning Electron Microscopy-SEM), and compositional (...

The measurement conditions for determining boron using graphite furnace-atomic absorption spectrometry (GF-AAS) were investigated. Differences in the boron absorbance profiles were found using three different commercially available GF-AAS instruments when the graphite atomizers in them were not tuned. The boron absorbances found with and without adjusting the graphite atomizers suggested that a...

Complexation between hexavalent neptunium and nitrate was studied in aqueous nitric acid solution using optical absorption, vibrational and X-ray absorption spectroscopies. Distributions of aqueous [NpO2](2+), [NpO2(NO3)](+) and [NpO2(NO3)2] species were obtained as a function of nitric acid concentration between 0 and 14 M. The crystal structure of [NpO2(NO3)2(H2O)2]·H2O was determined.

Structural models determined by X-ray crystallography play a central role in understanding the catalytic mechanism of enzymes. However, X-ray radiation generates hydrated electrons that can cause significant damage to the active sites of metalloenzymes. In the present study, crystal structures of the multicopper oxidases (MCOs) CueO from Escherichia coli and laccase from a metagenome were deter...

CrN/Cu composite powders were synthesized by employing a novel two-step technique. Firstly, the Cr2O3+CuO precursors were prepared by the solution combustion synthesis (SCS) method using cupric nitrate, urea, and chromium nitrate as initial materials. Subsequently, the SCS precursors were calcined at 850 °C in NH3 for 6 h, and transformed to CrN/Cu composite powders. The composite powders consi...

山本 修:広 島大学 原爆放射能 医学研究所 広 島市霞1-2-3,〒734 Tyroinase/Enzyme inactivation/Phenolase activity It has been reported previously that the UV irradiation of mushroom tyrosinase resulted in a logarithmic loss of biological activity due to the conformational changes in the enzyme molecule. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the factors influencing the radiosensitivity of enzymatic activity...

Copper-succinate-layered hydroxide (CSLH), a new nanohybrid material, was synthesized as an inorganic-organic nanohybrid, in which organic moiety was intercalated between the layers of a single cation layered material, copper hydroxide nitrate. Microporous scaffold carbon material was obtained by thermal decomposition of the nanohybrid at 500 °C under argon atmosphere followed by acid washing p...
