A method for determining the rate of hydrophilic and hydrophobic drugs release from different types of liposomal dispersions and gels using a dialysis method is described. Dibucaine base and 5-fluorouracil were used as model drugs for a hydrophobic and a hydrophilic drug, respectively. A dialysis technique was employed. Release rates were affected by the rate of rotation of the paddles of the t...

Scaffolds prepared from biodegradable polyurethanes (PUR) have been investigated as a supportive matrix and delivery system for skin, cardiovascular, and bone tissue engineering. While previous studies have suggested that PUR scaffolds are biocompatible and moderately osteoconductive, the effects of encapsulated osteoinductive molecules, such as recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein (rhB...

Microspheres formulated from poly (D,L-lactic-co-glycolide) (PLGA), a biodegradable polymer, have been extensively evaluated as a drug delivery system. In this study, the preparation, characterization and drug release properties of the PLGA microspheres were evaluated. Simvastatin (SIM)-loaded PLGA microspheres were prepared by oil-in-water emulsion/solvent evaporation method. The microspheres ...

We study a " burst " event, i. e. the evolution of an initial condition having support only in a finite interval of k-space, in the continuum shell model due to Parisi [1]. We show that the continuum equation without forcing or dissipation can be explicitly written in characteristic form and that the right and left moving parts can be solved exactly. When this is supplemented by the appropriate...

AbstractThe aim of the present study was to formulate poly (lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) nanoparticles loaded with 18-β-glycyrrhetinic acid (GLA) with appropriate physicochemical properties and antimicrobial activity. GLA loaded PLGA nanoparticles were prepared with different drug to polymer ratios, acetone contents and sonication times and the antibacterial activity of the developed nanopartic...

In this study, a system of dexamethasone sodium phosphate (DEXP)-loaded chitosan nanoparticles embedded in poly-ε-caprolacton (PCL) and gelatin electrospun nanofiber scaffold was introduced with potential therapeutic application for treatment of the nervous system. Besides anti-inflammatory properties, DEXP act through its glucocorticoid receptors, which are involved in the inhibition of astroc...

This communication describes a single-step electrospraying technique that generates core-shell microspheres (CSMs) with encapsulated protein as the core and an amphiphilic biodegradable polymer as the shell. The protein release profiles of the electrosprayed CSMs showed steady release kinetics over 3 weeks without a significant initial burst.
