Despite the fact that Titanium material has been considered as difficult to cut material, its usage has been increasing day by day in all engineering sectors; wherever criticality is encountered. Many studies are going on in view of increasing tool life at high cutting speed to improve productivity. In this study, attempt has been made to see the effect of iron as a partial substitution  along ...

the effect of t6 heat treatment on the microstructure and wear behavior of al-332 piston alloy containing 1.2wt% iron was investigated. the results showed that the t6 heat treatment changed the morphology of acicular eutectic si particles to a more spherical form. the heat treatment also reduced the average length and blunted the needle-like ?- phase intermetallics through dissolution and fragm...

To obtain the optimal 1:1 composition of FePt alloy nanomaterials by polyol synthesis, the iron precursor (iron pentacarbonyl, Fe(CO)5) must be used in excess, because the Fe(CO)5 exists in the vapor phase at the typical temperatures used for FePt synthesis and cannot be consumed completely. Fabrication of Fe3O4 nanoparticles by consuming the excess iron precursor was an effective strategy to m...

Solar thermochemical CO2-splitting (STCS) is a promising solution for solar energy harvesting and storage. However, practical fuel production by utilizing earth-abundant iron/iron oxides remains great challenge because of the formation passivation layers, resulting in slow reaction kinetics limited CO2 conversion. Here, we report novel material consisting an iron-nickel alloy embedded perovskit...

Wetting of real engineering surfaces occurs in many industrial applications (liquid coating, lubrication, printing, painting...). Forced and natural wetting can be beneficial in many cases, providing lubrication and therefore reducing friction and wear. However the wettability of surfaces can be strongly affected by surface roughness. This influence can be very significant for static and dynami...

The Fe-Ni-Pb-B alloy nanoparticles was prepared by a solid-solid chemical reaction of ferric trichloride, nickel chloride, lead acetate, and potassium borohydride powders at room temperature. The research results of the ICP and thermal analysis indicate that the resultants are composed of iron, nickel, lead, boron, and PVP, and the component of the alloy is connected with the mole ratio of pota...

In this study, Ti-5Al-2.5Fe alloy was prepared by powder metallurgy. The elemental titanium, aluminum, and iron powders were mechanically alloyed for 10 h in a vacuum atmosphere. A stainless steel jar and stainless steel balls were used for mechanical alloying. The alloyed powders were then sintered by vacuum hot pressing at 950 °C for a soaking time of 30 minutes. Pure titanium was also sinter...

Formation of crystalline defects due to cyclic martensitic transformations (CMT) in the iron-manganese Fe-18 wt.% Mn-2 wt.% Si alloy was investigated using X-ray diffractometry. Conditions for accumulation of fragment sub-boundaries with low-angle misorientations and chaotic stacking faults in crystal lattice of austenite and ε-martensite were analyzed.
