We show that long-time, long-distance fluctuations of plane-symmetric horizons exhibit universal hydrodynamic behavior. By considering classical fluctuations around black-brane backgrounds, we find both diffusive and shear modes. The diffusion constant and the shear viscosity are given by simple formulas, in terms of metric components. For a given metric, the answers can be interpreted as corre...

Solutions are proposed for the central problem of estimating the reaction rate coefficients in homogeneous kinetics. The first is based upon the fact that the right hand side of a kinetic differential equation is linear in the rate constants, whereas the second one uses the technique of neural networks. This second one is discussed deeply and its advantages, disadvantages and conditions of appl...

Anaerobic modeling is a useful tool to describe and simulate the condition and behaviour of anaerobic treatment units for better effluent quality and biogas generation. The present investigation deals with the anaerobic treatment of brewery wastewater with varying organic loads. The chemical oxygen demand (COD) and total suspended solids (TSS) of the influent and effluent of the bioreactor were...

Investigation of transfer processes in dense weakly or fully ionized many-component gases is topical in view of construction and improvement of new gaseous lasers, plasmo-chemical reactors for ozone synthesis, and air cleaning of both nitrogen and carbon oxides and chlorine compounds. A study and calculation of transfer coefficients taking into account the interparticle interaction nature is on...

Time-resolved kinetic studies of the reaction of dimethylsilylene, SiMe2, generated by laser flash photolysis of 1,1-dimethyl-1-silacyclopent-3-ene, have been carried out to obtain rate coefficients for its bimolecular reactions with trimethylsilane-1-d, Me3SiD. The reaction was studied in the gas phase at five temperatures in the range 292-605 K. The rate coefficients showed no pressure depend...

The kinetic theory of gases, including Granular Gases, is based on the Boltzmann equation. Many properties of the gas, from the characteristics of the velocity distribution function to the transport coefficients may be expressed in terms of functions of the collision integral which we call kinetic integrals. Although the evaluation of these functions is conceptually straightforward, technically...

We previously proposed a method for the study of the relaxation phenomena in the activation and inactivation gates of ion channels present in the excitable membranes of neurons. In order to study the relaxation phenomena, the assumption is made that the activation and inactivation gate order parameters can be treated as fluxes and forces. In the present paper, we extend the previous model as in...

We present some results on the mathematical analysis of kinetic equations for modelling transport processes in semiconductors. We focus our attention on the connection between the kinetic models and the fluids ones based on driftdiffusion or hydrodynamic equations. Asymptotic analysis gives hydrodynamic coefficients in, terms of microscopic quantities and allows to derive accurate boundary cond...

The kinetic theory is formulated with respect to anholonomic frames of reference on curved spacetimes. By using the concept of nonlinear connection we develop an approach to modelling locally anisotropic kinetic processes and, in corresponding limits, the relativistic non–equilibrium thermodynamics with local anisotropy. This lead to a unified formulation of the kinetic equations on (pseudo) Ri...

We develop the kinetic theory of dilute cohesive granular gases in which the attractive part is described by a square well potential. We derive the hydrodynamic equations from the kinetic theory with the microscopic expressions for the dissipation rate and the transport coefficients. We check the validity of our theory by performing the direct simulation Monte Carlo.
