We introduce the Bounded Axiom A Forcing Axiom(BAAFA). It turns out that it is equiconsistent with the existence of a regular Σ2-correct cardinal and hence also equiconsistent with BPFA. Furthermore we show that, if consistent, it does not imply the Bounded Proper Forcing Axiom(BPFA).

We show there is a residual set of non-Anosov C∞ Axiom A diffeomorphisms with the no cycles property whose elements have trivial centralizer. If M is a surface and 2 ≤ r ≤ ∞, then we will show there exists an open and dense set of of Cr Axiom A diffeomorphisms with the no cycles property whose elements have trivial centralizer. Additionally, we examine commuting diffeomorphisms preserving a com...

Let us recall that Raphael Robinson’s Arithmetic Q is an axiom system that differs from Peano Arithmetic essentially by containing no Induction axioms [13, 18]. We will generalize the semantictableaux version of the Second Incompleteness Theorem almost to the level of System Q. We will prove that there exists a single rather long Π1 sentence, valid in the standard model of the Natural Numbers a...

Most programming languages have certain phrases (like expressions) which only read information from the state and certain others (like commands) which write information to the state. These are called passive and active phrases respectively. Semantic models which make these distinctions have been hard to find. For instance, most semantic models have expression denotations that (temporarily) chan...

We prove the topological (or combinatorial) rigidity property for real polynomials with all critical points real and nondegenerate, which completes the last step in solving the density of Axiom A conjecture in real one-dimensional dynamics.

The chaotic hypothesis discussed in [GC1] is tested experimentally in a simple conduction model. Besides a confirmation of the hypothesis predictions the results suggest the validity of the hypothesis in the much wider context in which, as the forcing strength grows, the attractor ceases to be an Anosov system and becomes an Axiom A attractor. A first test of the new predictions is also attempted.

We study a standard model of exchange economies with individual endowments. It is well known that no rule is individually rational, e cient, and strategyproof. In order to quantify the extent of this impossibility, we parametrize axioms on allocation rules. Given an axiom A, a parametrization of A is a continuum of axioms {δ-A}δ∈[0,1] such that (i) δ-A is equivalent to A only if δ = 1; (ii) δ-A...

We propose an axiomatization of Sergeyev’s theory of Grossone, trying to comply with his methodological principles. We find that a simplified form of his Divisibility axiom is sufficient. We use for easier readability a second order language and a predicative second order logic. Our theory is not finitely axiomatizable and is a conservative extension of Peano’s arithmetic.

Under Martin’s Axiom a c.c.c. nonseparable compact space is constructed which maps continuously into [0, 1] with linear fibers. Such a space can not, for instance, map onto [0, 1]א1 .

We show that several logics of common belief and common knowledge are not only complete, but also strongly complete, hence compact. These logics involve a weakened monotonicity axiom, and no other restriction on individual belief. The semantics is of the ordinary fixed-point type.
