Few-layer V(2)O(5) nanosheets with a thickness of 2.1-3.8 nm have been successfully synthesized in this work via a simple and scalable liquid exfoliation technique. The unique nanostructure allows the high-rate transportation of lithium ions and electrons due to very short diffusion paths provided by this ultrathin thickness, resulting in Li-ion cathodes with remarkable energy and power densities.
Few-layer nitrogen-doped graphene has been prepared via fast and controlled electrochemical exfoliation of graphite in a protic ionic liquid ethylammonium nitrate. The method presents a potentially scalable approach for preparation of metal-free, N-doped graphene for use as electrocatalysts for oxygen reduction reactions.
Two-dimensional tungsten disulphide flakes are developed via a two solvent grinding assisted liquid phase exfoliation method. Our investigations show the distinct advantages of this approach that include reduced residues of the solvent used, high yield and creating relatively thin flakes suitable for electronic, optical, catalytic and energy storage applications.
Exfoliated graphite (EG) refers to graphite that has a degree of separation of a substantial portion of the carbon layers in the graphite. Graphite nanoplatelet (GNP) is commonly prepared by mechanical agitation of EG. The EG exhibits clinginess, due to its cellular structure, but GNP does not. The clinginess allows the formation of EG compacts and flexible graphite sheet without a binder. The ...
The stability of phosphorene is shown to be degraded by water. However, the presence of a small amount of water allows the synthesis of high-quality material in liquid exfoliation of black phosphorus using dimethylsulfoxide as solvent. A phosphorus/water molar ratio between 1.5 and 14 maximizes the quality of the phosphorene flakes and their stability.
Two-dimensional superconductors have been produced via a mild intercalation-assisted, exfoliation approach, providing large-size, high-quality single layers with the ease and versatility of liquid-phase processing.
Many solution processing methods of exfoliation of layered materials have been studied during the last few years; most of them are based on organic solvents or rely on surfactants and other funtionalization agents. Pure water should be an ideal solvent, however, it is generally believed, based on solubility theories that stable dispersions of water could not be achieved and systematic studies a...
Correction for ‘WS 2 quantum dots harvesting via sonication assisted liquid exfoliation the electrochemical sensing of xanthine’ by Arunkumar Sakthivel et al. , New J. Chem. 2022, 46 17066–17072, https://doi.org/10.1039/D2NJ03446H.
Antimonene has attracted much attention due to its excellent properties such as high carrier mobility, thermoelectric performance and stability. In order verify theoretical advantages, a large number of experimental studies have been carried out applications explored. This paper mainly introduces the preparation antimonene by mechanical exfoliation, liquid phase exfoliation epitaxial growth, su...
