We report on the detection of a transit of the super-Earth 55 Cnc e with warm Spitzer in IRAC’s 4.5 μm band. Our MCMC analysis includes an extensive modeling of the systematic effects affecting warm Spitzer photometry, and yields a transit depth of 410±63 ppm, which translates to a planetary radius of 2.08 −0.17 R⊕ as measured in IRAC 4.5 μm channel. A planetary mass of 7.81 +0.58 −0.53 M⊕ is d...

We present a combined analysis of all publicly available, visible HST observations of transits of the planet HD 209458b. We derive the times of transit, planet radius, inclination, period, and ephemeris. The transit times are then used to constrain the existence of secondary planets in the system. We show that planets near an Earth mass can be ruled out in low-order mean-motion resonance, while...

Following the coincidence A x atomic year ∼ Earth year (s), (A =Avogardo number, atomic year= aB/αc, aB = Bohr radius, α = fine structure constant, c = light velocity) and considering the ,,niche” for α, i. e. 180 ≤ α ≤ 85, the Ecosphere radius is calculated.

[1] The Ulysses spacecraft has shown that the radial component of the heliospheric magnetic field is approximately independent of latitude. This has allowed quantification of the total open solar flux from near-Earth observations of the interplanetary magnetic field. The open flux can also be estimated from photospheric magnetograms by mapping the fields up to the ‘‘coronal source surface’’ whe...

results overall, ≥ 2 mm shortening of the radius was seen in 28% of the patients, 53% had 2 - 5 mm radial shortening and 19% of the patients had more than 5 mm shortening of the radius. most of the participants had acceptable outcomes. the mean angulation was 6.28 ± 2.85 degrees and the mean shortening was 3.92 ± 2.22. thirty-nine percent of the patients had an angulation of less than 5 mm, 56%...

[1] Smith [2011] (hereafter S11) advises against employing the modulus of the radial component of the interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) when using in situ magnetic field measurements from the heliosphere to remotely sense the open solar flux and argues that it causes what Lockwood et al. [2009a, 2009b] (LEA09) have termed the “excess flux,” as detected empirically by Owens et al. [2008] (OEA0...

The Kepler mission, combined with ground-based radial velocity (RV) follow-up and dynamical analyses of transit timing variations, has revolutionized the observational constraints on sub-Neptune-sized planet compositions. The results of an extensive Kepler follow-up program including multiple Doppler measurements for 22 planet-hosting stars more than doubles the population of sub-Neptune-sized ...
