Many real-world problems are dynamic and require an optimization algorithm that is able to continuously track a changing optimum over time. In this paper, a new multiagent algorithm is proposed to solve dynamic problems. This algorithm is based on multiple trajectory searches and saving the optima found to use them when a change is detected in the environment. The proposed algorithm is analyzed...

Mobile content, by its concise nature, offers limited indexing opportunities, which makes it difficult to build high-quality mobile search engines and indexes. In this paper we address this problem by evaluating a heuristic content enrichment framework that uses standard Web resources as a source of additional indexing knowledge. We present an evaluation using a mobile news service that demonst...

In recent years, mobile operating systems, represented by android and iOS, have become more and more popular in smartphones. However, the energy issue in smartphones, which refers to the poor battery capacity and management schemes, has been the bottle-neck to further advance the development in this area. Generally, mobile applications have to consider both performance and energy consumption. B...

Many realworld optimization problems are dynamic optimization problems (DOPs), where changes may occur over time regarding the objective function, decision variable, and constraints, etc. DOPs raise big challenges to traditional optimization methods as well as evolutionary algorithms (EAs). The last decade has witnessed increasing research efforts on handling dynamic optimization problems using...

The prevalence of temporal landmarks has been revealed in a wide range of tasks associated with autobiographical memory, such as recall and dating of personal events. The author examined 3 types of events that have usually been considered landmarks: flashbulb memories, 1st experiences, and reference points in personal histories. The differences between landmark events and nonlandmark events are...

Over the last few years, computational power, storage capacity, and sensing capabilities of mobile devices have significantly improved. As a consequence, they have undergone a rapid development from pure telecommunication devices to small and ubiquitous computing platforms. Most importantly, these devices are able to host context-aware applications, i.e., applications that are automatically adj...

In this paper a novel approach for detection of peaks in spectral representations of music signals is proposed. The basic idea is to detect local maxima in any digitized signal and employ statistical techniques for filtering out spurious peaks which are the result of imperfections and noise in spectral representations of music signal.
