The effects of seedlayer (SL) and preheating on the crystallographic, magnetic, and recording properties of CoCr18Pt16B4 granular perpendicular magnetic media have been investigated. For the media with Ru as underlayer, although higher preheating improves both coercivity and squareness, the media is much noisier. With introducing Ta SL, Ru (0002)/Co (0002) crystallography is greatly enhanced. H...

We perform a fully non-linear calculation of the production of supermassive Grand Unified Theory (GUT) X bosons during preheating, taking into account the fact that they are unstable with a decay width Γ X. We show that parametric resonance does not develop if Γ X is larger than about 10 −2 m X. We compute the nonthermal number density of superheavy bosons produced in the preheating phase and d...

We show by studying the Abelian Higgs model with numerical lattice simulations that nonthermal phase transitions arising out of preheating after inflation are possible in gauge-Higgs models under rather general circumstances. This may lead to the formation of gauged topological defects and, if the scale at which inflation ends is low enough, to electroweak baryogenesis after preheating.

We examine the particle production via preheating at the end of inflation in supersymmetric theories. The inflaton and matter scalars are now necessarily complex fields, and their relevant interactions are restricted by holomorphy. In general this leads to major changes both in the inflaton dynamics and in the efficiency of the preheating process. In addition, supersymmetric models generically ...

We perform a set of non–radiative cosmological simulations of a preheated intracluster medium in which the entropy of the gas was uniformly boosted at high redshift. The results of these simulations are used first to test the current analytic techniques of preheating via entropy input in the smooth accretion limit. When the unmodified profile is taken directly from simulations, we find that thi...

Background. One of the problems with composite resin restorations is gap formation at resin‒tooth interface. The present study evaluated the effect of preheating cycles of silorane- and dimethacrylate-based composite resins on gap formation at the gingival margins of Class V restorations. Methods. In this in vitro study, standard Class V cavities were prepared on the buccal surfaces of 48 bovin...

We reconsider the old problem of the dynamics of spontaneous symmetry breaking (SSB) using 3D lattice simulations. We develop a theory of tachyonic preheating, which occurs due to the spinodal instability of the scalar field. Tachyonic preheating is so efficient that SSB typically completes within a single oscillation as the field rolls towards the minimum of its effective potential. We show th...

The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of preheating on composite resins’ mechanical and physical properties. Preheating of composite resins positively affects the degree of conversion, viscosity, microleakage, marginal adaptation, microhardness and color change however, the flexural strength is adversely affected.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM Issues regarding the use of composite preheating need to be investigated so that the clinician will better understand the variables associated with this method. PURPOSE To examine the multiple aspects of use of a commercial composite preheating device (Calset, AdDent Inc., Danbury, CT, USA). MATERIALS AND METHODS Temperature values of three heating units and composi...

We consider a two-field model for inflation where the second order metric perturbations can be amplified by a parametric resonance during preheating. We demonstrate that there can arise a considerable enhancement of non-Gaussianity sourced by the local terms generated through the coupled perturbations. We argue that the non-Gaussianity parameter could be as large as f(NL) approximately 50. Our ...
