Metal-responsive transcription factor 1 (MTF-1) is essential for activating transcription of the metallothionein genes in response to multiple species of heavy metals by binding to the metal-responsive element (MRE) located in the upstream region of the genes. In contrast, MTF-1 binding to the MRE in vitro is induced only by zinc ions, suggesting that MTF-1 acts as a zinc sensor protein. Althou...

ESTRO 35 2016 _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ cm amplitude. A Fourier Transform (FT) was used to calculate the MTF of the images for the static and moving phantom. The MTF of five commonly used LOG filters were calculated. The response of the filters was compared with the MTF of the images to determine if the motion would aff...

PURPOSE The purpose of this work is to characterize the spatial dependence of the in-plane 35 modulation transfer function (MTF) in tomosynthesis and investigate the influence of the acquisition geometry. METHODS The in-plane MTF was calculated from measured edge spread functions using a custom 40 test tool consisting of a 0.250 mm thick lead sheet affixed to a 5.88 mm acrylic sheet. Images wer...

BACKGROUND Studies have demonstrated the efficacy of metformin (MTF ) in reducing insulin resistance and N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) in inhibiting oxidative stress which are involved in the pathogenesis of polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). We aimed to compare the effects of MTF and NAC combination on serum metabolite and hormonal levels during the course of ovulation induction in PCOS individual ...

Post-translational modification of MTF-1 (metal-response-element-binding transcription factor-1) was suggested to play a role in its metalloregulatory functions. In the present study, pulse labelling and two-dimensional electrophoresis-Western blotting were used to demonstrate that, although MTF-1 is highly modified in vivo, its phosphorylation level does not rapidly change in response to metal...

The sideroblastic anemias are characterized by ring sideroblasts, that is, red cell precursors with mitochondrial iron accumulation. We therefore studied the expression of mitochondrial ferritin (MtF) in these conditions. Erythroid cells from 13 patients with refractory anemia with ring sideroblasts (RARS) and 3 patients with X-linked sideroblastic anemia (XLSA) were analyzed for the distributi...

The zinc finger protein, metal response element-binding transcription factor-1 (MTF-1) regulates the expression of genes in response to metal ions and oxidative stress. The precise mechanisms by which this occurs are not understood. To further examine this problem, mouse MTF-1 was expressed in Saccharomyces cerevisiae and tested for the ability to activate metal response element-driven reporter...

The usage of digital radiology systems with insufficient quality control of digital image detectors can efface inherent superiorities of digital systems in comparison with analogue radiology systems and even makes an increased level of patients’ radiation doses. Modulation transfer function (MTF) is one of the most important parameters related to image quality and digital detectors efficiency. ...

The aim ot fhe present work was to compare the penetration in muscle tissue fluid (MTF) and muscle tissue (MT) of cephalotin administered in rabbits. Animals were distributed in Trial 1 (n = 15) and Trial 2 ( n= 6). In the Trial 1 the animals were implanted in ischiotibial muscle with non reactive material cages. Animals recibed subcutaneously (sc) cephalotin (20 mg/kg) and blood, MTF and MT sa...

An extension of the traditional modulation transfer function (MTF), the detective MTF, is proposed for the evaluation of the resolution of X-ray imaging detectors with non-uniform efficiency on the scale of individual detector elements. The dMTF is shown to give a better representation than does the MTF of the improved resolution reported when the readout of the detectors is enhanced.
