Most of the sub-pixel edge detection methods proposed in literature are based on Ghosal and Mehrotra’s method which uses Zernike moments. Some research has been reported using Fourier-Mellin moments for sub-pixel edge detection. Pseudo Zernike moments have been proved to be superior to Zernike moments in terms of their feature representation capabilities and sensitivity to image noise. This pap...

Control-dependent (multiplicative) noise makes it difficult to achieve optimal control because large control signals amplify noise. This paper considers a minimal (one-dimensional) system that includes multiplicative noise and solves the optimal control problem for arbitrary cost functions. In a limit when the control-cost approaches zero, this formulation becomes analytically solvable. The ana...

Multiplicative noise removal is of momentous significance in coherent imaging systems and various image processing applications. This paper proposes a new nonconvex variational model for multiplicative noise removal under the Weberized total variation (TV) regularization framework. Then, we propose and investigate another surrogate strictly convex objective function for Weberized TV regularizat...

A numerical approach for the approximation of inertial manifolds of stochastic evolutionary equations with multiplicative noise is presented and illustrated. After splitting the stochastic evolutionary equations into a backward and a forward part, a numerical scheme is devised for solving this backward-forward stochastic system, and an ensemble of graphs representing the inertial manifold is co...

This work is concerned with existence of weak solutions to discontinuous stochastic differential equations driven by multiplicative Gaussian noise and sliding mode control dynamics generated by stochastic differential equations with variable structure, that is with jump nonlinearity. The treatment covers the finite dimensional stochastic systems and the stochastic diffusion equation with multip...

Segmentation plays a key role in many image processing applications, including SAR image analysis. Given a high-quality segmentation, important tasks such as adaptive noise filtering and classification can be greatly simplified. However, the presence of a strong, multiplicative noise known as speckle makes segmentation of SAR images very difficult. A new, hybrid segmentation technique has permi...

where α1 and α2 are positive regularization parameters. The main advantage of using the new data fitting term ∑n2 i=1 ( [z]i + [g]iei ) is that its second derivative with respect to [z]i is equal to [g]i e−[z]i , therefore it implies that the new data fitting term is strictly convex for all z. Here we add a fitting term ||z −w||2 in the new minimization method. We can interpret the total variat...

ANCHOR is an integrated memory-based scaling model that accounts for a wide range of phenomena in category rating and absolute identification. The model uses anchors stored in memory that serve as prototypes for each response category. The stimuli are represented by magnitudes. Two alternative formulations of the magnitude variability are considered: additive noise, which leads to logarithmic s...

ABSTRACT. The aim of this article is to study the asymptotic behaviour for large times of solutions to a certain class of stochastic partial differential equations of parabolic type. In particular, we will prove the backward uniqueness result and the existence of the spectral limit for abstract SPDEs and then show how these results can be applied to some concrete linear and nonlinear SPDEs. For...

We study the influence of a multiplicative Gaussian noise, white in time and correlated in space, on the blow-up phenomenon in the supercritical nonlinear Schrödinger equation. We prove that any sufficiently regular and localized deterministic initial data gives rise to a solution which blows up in arbitrarily small time with a positive probability.
