Nocardiosis is a rare bacterial infection of either the lungs (pulmonary) or body (systemic) that usually affects immunocompromised individuals. It is caused by Gram-positive, aerobic actinomycetes of the Nocardia genus. Multiple high-density sheet shadows in both lungs along with nodules or cavities are the most common presentations of nocardiosis, whereas a large pulmonary mass is considered ...

nocardiosis has been reported increasingly in recent two decades, probably due to improvement in isolation of the organism and increased burden of immune compromised patients. nocardia occasionally has been reported in healthy people. a case series of definitive nocardiosis (2002 to 2010), clinical characteristics, underlying diseases, immune status and in-patient outcome were studied in a tert...

Nocardiosis is a rare infectious disease due to Nocardia infections. In this report, we present a rare case of cutaneous nocardiosis with involvement of the trachea, anterior mediastinum and sternum. The strain of Nocardia has been isolated from bacterial culture of infected tissue. 16s rRNA sequencing confirmed that it contained the Nocardia genus. The patient was successfully treated with Co-...

Nocardiosis is an infrequent but serious pulmonary infection caused by Gram-positive aerobic actinomycetes. In this paper, we report on a 48-year-old patient with pleuropulmonary nocardiosis and cirrhosis due to chronic hepatitis C virus infection treated with triple antiviral treatment complicated by prolonged neutropenia.

Nocardiosis is a life-threatening infection that affects the lungs, skin, and central nervous system, particularly in immune-compromised patients. We report a case of disseminated nocardiosis with pneumonia, brain abscesses, meningitis, and thyroiditis, for an individual with recent steroid therapy. Recovery was uneventful with a 4-month course of sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim.

Nocardiosis is an extremely rare infection, which usually happens in immunocompromised hosts. Here we report a case with muscular and pulmonary infection of Nocardia in a membranous glomerulonephritis patient only treated with steroids for immunosuppression. This case revealed an uncommon Nocardia infection site, and a disseminated Nocardiosis occurs in a mild immunosuppressed patient.

The reported case is of primary pulmonary nocardiosis, caused by Nocardia brasiliensis, in a immunocompromised patient, which ended fatally despite appropriate treatment. The partially acid fast filamentous bacterium was predominant on direct examination of the sputum. It was cultured on blood agar, MacConkey agar and by paraffin baiting technique. The bacterium was resistant to cotrimoxazole, ...
