Let n, k be positive integers, with k ≤ n, and let τ be a fixed permutation of {1, . . . , k}. We will call τ the pattern. We will look for the pattern τ in permutations σ of n letters. A pattern τ is said to occur in a permutation σ if there are integers 1 ≤ i1 < i2 < . . . < ik ≤ n such that for all 1 ≤ r < s ≤ k we have τ(r) < τ(s) if and only if σ(ir) < σ(is). Example: Suppose τ = (132). Th...

This article presents a biomechanical model of the right arm, developped with respect to the functional anatomy of the human. This model is developped as a motion analysis tool. The main application issued from this model is the muscle forces estimation of the flexion/extension and internal rotation of the forearm joints. This estimation is based on an inverse dynamics method, improved with add...

The momenta of τ decay products in the reaction e + e − → τ + τ − do not constrain the τ direction unambiguously. It is shown how the measurement of tracks of hadrons from semileptonic τ decays, in particular their relative impact parameters, allows to resolve this ambiguity.

Generating multivariate random vectors is a crucial part of the input analysis involved in discrete-event stochastic simulation modeling of multivariate systems. The NORmal-To-Anything (NORTA) algorithm, in which generating the correlation matrices of normal random vectors is the most important task, is one of the most efficient methods in this area. In this algorithm, we need to solve the so-c...

The objective of this paper is a study of performance of various techniques for correlation control when sampling from a multivariate population within the framework of Monte Carlo simulations, especially Latin Hypercube Sampling. In particular, we study the ability of the methods to fulfill the prescribed marginals and correlation structure of a random vector for various sample sizes. Two norm...

In some statistical process control applications, the process data are not Normally distributed and characterized by the combination of both variable and attributes quality characteristics. Despite different methods which are proposed separately for monitoring multivariate and multi-attribute processes, only few methods are available in the literature for monitoring multivariate-attribute proce...

When we use simulations to estimate the performance of stochastic systems, the simulation is often driven by input models estimated from finite real-world data. A complete statistical characterization of system performance estimates requires quantifying both input model and simulation estimation errors. The components of input models in many complex systems could be dependent. In this paper, we...
