We demonstrate in vivo optical coherence tomography using a Fourier-domain optical delay line constructed with a commercially available polygonal scanner. The 20-faceted polygonal mirror array, capable of scanning at rates up to 15 kHz, is implemented at 4 kHz to acquire 500 x 500 pixel images at 8 frames/s with a signal-to-noise ratio of 80 dB. Features of this delay line include scalability t...

We propose a novel architecture for an optical programmable dispersion matrix (PDM) able to process simultaneous independent RF beams. The proposal is demonstrated by processing the transmission of two independent RF signals in two-channels with a resolution of 3-bit. The optical beamformer processes two independent RF-beams, for eight different angular directions, and it is based on a binary a...

A R TI C LE Abstract A comprehensive overview is presented about optical fiber-based tunable photonic delay lines, which have been steadily developed over the last decade for the realization of all-optically controlled timing functions. The most widely used techniques, such as those based on slow & fast light and wavelength conversion associated to dispersion, are described and their physical l...

We demonstrate a compact optical buffer module, comprising an InP 1×8 phased-array switch and a silica-based delay line circuit. Tunable and uniform buffering of up to 21 ns is obtained with a 3-ns temporal resolution. ©2012 Optical Society of America OCIS codes: (130.3120) Integrated optics devices; (130.4815) Optical switching devices; (060.1810) Buffers, couplers, routers, switches, and mult...

In this work a digital delay line (DDL) from Oz Optics was used. The DDL introduces a delay in optical paths between the fast and slow orthogonal polarizations by adjusting the relative travel distance of the two orthogonal modes. The insertion loss of the DDL is 1.5 dB. A Labview programme was used to write and read from the DDL. The DDL was adjusted from 0 to 60 ps and the observed first orde...

The role of optical buffering in the development of all-optical cross-connects is discussed, followed by an analysis of fibre delay line implementations in optical buffers. It is shown that the traffic model plays an important part in the analyses of the systems, together with the traffic load, the use of internal buffer wavelengths, and the cross-connect architecture. Travelling buffers have s...
