the present study was carried out to investigate the effect of various refining processes’ conditions on conjugated dienes in soybean oil. conjugated dienes contents of soybean oil were found to undergo reduction in neutralization and bleaching steps while being increased in deodorization. it was observed that alkali refining (neutralization) through 12 and 14 °bé, bleaching with either acid ac...

alkali and alkaline earth metals hydrogen sulfate catalyzed the one-pot three component condensation reactions of aldehydes, 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds and urea or thiourea under solvent-free conditions leading to 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1h)-ones in high yields at 80 °c. our results showed that biginelli reaction not only is ph dependent, but the cation of catalyst plays an important role.

The effects of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and prostaglandins E(2) and F(2alpha) on the secretory and electrical activity of isolated rabbit fundic mucosa have been studied. Spontaneous acid secretion was inhibited by serosal side application of sodium thiocyanate (6x10(-2)M) and the resulting alkali secretion measured by pH stat tiration. Serosal side application of indomethacin (10(...

Polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNs) invade the cornea following an alkali burn apparently undergoing a respiratory burst and degranulation, which is thought to lead to corneal ulceration. The supernatant obtained from burned Sigma collagen (Miller type 1) or from bovine cornea produced a significant locomotory stimulus to PMNs. Citrate inhibited this locomotory stimulus by 69.5% and 98%, respec...

The stability of two-component clusters consisting of light (Na or K) and heavy (Rb or Cs) alkali atoms formed on helium nanodroplets is studied by femtosecond laser ionization in combination with mass spectrometry. Characteristic stability patterns reflecting electron shell-closures are observed in dependence of the total number of atoms contained in the mixed clusters. Faster decay of the sta...

OBJECTIVES To assess the relationships among alkali production, diet, oral health behaviors, and oral hygiene. METHODS Data from 52 subjects including demographics, diet, and oral hygiene scores were analyzed against the level of arginine and urea enzymes in plaque and saliva samples. An oral habit survey was completed that included: use of tobacco (TB), alcohol (AH), sugary drinks (SD), and ...

Chemical bonding between the Rydberg molecule NH4 and three alkali atoms Li, Na, and K, via their 2s, 3s, or 4s valence orbitals, is examined using flexible atomic orbital basis sets and high level ab initio methods. The results thus obtained suggest that (NH4)Na and (NH4)K should have large enough barriers to fragmentation (to (NH3) plus the alkali hydride) to be detected experimentally if it ...

By the use as tracers of 42K, 86Rb and 32P it has been shown that in the metabolism of Bact. lactis aerogenes (а) the alkali-metal ion enters the cell during oxidation of the carbon substrate (glucose, succinic acid, acetic acid), whether or not a nitrogen source is provided, so that growth occurs; in either event the alkali-metal ion subsequently leaves the cell again; (б) if the pH is lowered...

hours 30 to 35 per cent of the growth produced in 24 hours by the red blood cell extract and thiamine. This confirms the observation of Berkman and Koser (J. Bact., 41, 38) that slow growth can be obtained in a gelatin hydrolyzate medium with thiamine diphosphate alone and indicates that the alkali-stable portion of the extract is stimulatory, not essential. Attempts to substitute for the alkal...

This work aims at providing a better understanding of the mechanical properties of the reaction rim in the alkali-silica reaction. The elastic modulus of the calcium alkali silicate constituting the reaction rim, which is formed at the interface between alkali silicate and Ca(OH)₂ in a chemically-idealized system of the alkali-silica reaction, was studied using nano-indentation. In addition, th...
