Using template-containing silica microspheres as a precursor, novel ordered mesoporous silica nanoparticles with a narrow pore size distribution and high crystallinity have been synthesized by various hydrothermal merging processes. Several architectures like chains, dumbbells, triangles, squares and flowers have been discovered. The linking mechanisms of these interacting silica spheres leadin...

SBA-15 is an interesting mesoporous silica material having highly ordered nanopores and a large surface area, which is widely employed as a catalyst. This mesoporous silica due to silanol groups is easily functionalized by various organic materials. A new acidic ordered functionalized mesoporous silica (SBA-15-Aminopropyl-Benzyl-SO3H) has been introduced as an efficient catalyst for ...

We present a modeling scheme to analyze cagelike silica mesoporous crystals based on in situ X-ray diffraction (XRD) data collected during gas adsorption-desorption (physisorption) processes. Nitrogen physisorption on a silica mesoporous crystal of SBA-16 was directly monitored by using synchrotron in situ powder XRD measurements conducted at SPring-8. SBA-16 is a well-ordered mesoporous silica...

Successive mesophase transformation induced by an anionic surfactant such as sodium dioctyl sulfosuccinate (AOT) has been demonstrated to fabricate four kinds of large pore mesoporous silica materials in a triblock copolymer F127 surfactant assembly system. The transformation of the highly ordered mesostructures from face-centered cubic (space group Fm3̄m) to body-centered Im3̄m then towards two-...

Spherical mesoporous silica MCM-41 was synthesized for adsorptive removal of sulfur compounds from fossil fuels using 1mM solution of dibenzothiophene (DBT) in dodecane as model oil. The prepared silica adsorbent has been characterized by nitrogen adsorption-desorption analysis as well as Small Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS), and transmission and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) methods. R...

Highly ordered mesoporous Co3O4 materials have been prepared via a nanocasting route with three-dimensional KIT-6 and two-dimensional SBA-15 ordered mesoporous silicas as templates and Co(NO3)2 · 6H2O as precursor. Through changing the hydrothermal treating temperature of the silica template, ordered mesoporous Co3O4 materials with hierarchical structures have been developed. The larger pores a...

A new class of nitrogen-doped ordered mesoporous carbon/silica (N-OMC/SiO2) nanocomposites was successfully fabricated via a multi-constituent co-assembly strategy. The N-OMC/SiO2 nanocomposite presented a unique interpenetrating carbon/silica structure whose carbon/silica interface is highly uniform, and thus demonstrated high capacity, good cycling and excellent rate properties.

By finely tuning the TEOS/P123 molar ratio of the octane/water/P123/TEOS quadruple emulsion system and by controlling the synthesis conditions, an ultrafine emulsion system was isolated, under the confinement of which, nanoscale silica particles with ordered large mesopores (approximately 13 nm) have been successfully constructed; the obtained mesoporous silica particles have an unusual ultrafa...
