Two new palladium-catalyzed reactions of aromatic sulfur compounds enabled the conversion of dibenzothiophenes into triphenylenes in four steps. This transformation of one aromatic framework into another consists of 1) 4-chlorobutylation of the dibenzothiophene to form the corresponding sulfonium salt, 2) palladium-catalyzed arylative ring opening of the sulfonium salt with a sodium tetraarylbo...
Background and Objectives: Transition metal complexes possess a variety of biological and pharmacological activities, such as antitumor, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, and free radical scavenging. Many studies have been carried out on platinum-based chemotherapy agents, however, most attention has been paid to non-platinum metal-based agents in order to find different metal comp...
The dual activation of simple substrates by the combination of organocatalysis and palladium catalysis has been successfully applied in a variety of different asymmetric transformations. Thus, the asymmetric a-allylation of carbonyl compounds, a-fluorination of acyl derivatives, decarboxylative protonation of β-dicarbonyl compounds, cyclization reactions of alkynyl carbonyl compounds and β-func...
2H-Chromene is an important structural motif that exists in natural products and non-natural compounds possessing interesting biological activities. In this investigation, a highly efficient approach toward 2H-chromenes has been developed based on palladium-catalyzed coupling of N-tosylhydrazones and β-bromostyrenes. The mechanism of this reaction is proposed that involves the formation of viny...
The metalloelement Palladium has a number of potential Pharmaco-clinical advantages. Palladium compounds have antiviral, antibacterial, neuroprotective and antitumor properties. However studies have also indicated some mild to serious toxic effects of Palladium metalloelements. Biothiols are important antioxidants that provide protection against metals toxicity. The interaction of metalloelemen...
Palladium catalysts have been widely adopted for organic synthesis and diverse industrial applications given their efficacy and safety, yet their biological in vivo use has been limited to date. Here we show that nanoencapsulated palladium is an effective means to target and treat disease through in vivo catalysis. Palladium nanoparticles (Pd-NPs) were created by screening different Pd compound...
This paper presents a new gel combustion method to synthesize palladium nanoparticles, palladium oxide (PdO) nanoparticles and palladium-palladium oxide nanocomposites. In the proposed method, there are some effective parameters including palladium chloride concentration, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) concentration, acid concentration, solvent composition and combustion temperature that their values ...
Palladium-catalyzed ring-opening thiocarbonylation of vinylcyclopropanes (VCPs) with thiols and carbon monoxide affords the corresponding unsaturated thioesters in moderate to excellent yields. This reaction provides a general method for the ring-opening thiocarbonylation of VCPs. It further demonstrates the utility of transition metal catalysts for the synthesis of organosulfur compounds.
A new and efficient strategy for the synthesis of 3,9'- and 2,9'-biscarbazoles was developed. Our strategy relies on the cyclization of 1,1'-biphenyl-2,2'-diyl bis(trifluoromethanesulfonate) with 4- or 3-anisidine, transformation of the methoxy to a triflate group and subsequent oxidative Pd-catalyzed cyclization with various anilines.
The bis(N-heterocyclic carbene)(diphenylacetylene)palladium complex [Pd(ITMe)2(PhC≡CPh)] (ITMe=1,3,4,5-tetramethylimidazol-2-ylidene) acts as a highly active pre-catalyst in the diboration and silaboration of azobenzenes to synthesize a series of novel functionalized hydrazines. The reactions proceed using commercially available diboranes and silaboranes under mild reaction conditions.
