The importance attached by project managers to project success criteria and the associated rates of project success were assessed for different types of projects, industries and traits of project managers. 959 responses to a web-based survey showed that importance attached to project success criteria and project success rates differ by industry, project complexity and the age and nationality of...

Introduction: As Dawn’s ion engine propels the spacecraft toward the asteroid belt, there is growing interest in the asteroids as planetary predecessors. Pallas is the third largest asteroid, similar in size to Vesta, and has an orbit similar to that of Ceres. Pallas is one of the three objects in the main belt that may be a proto-planet rather than a fragment or remnant of the early solar system.

This paper presents work by many developers of the Athena Computing Environment, done over many years. We aim to show how the various components of the Athena system interact with reference to an individual workstation and its particular needs. We describe Hesiod, Kerberos, the locker system, electronic mail, and the software release process for workstation software, and show how they all inter...

The masses of the three largest asteroids: (1) Ceres, (2) Pallas and (4) Vesta were determined from gravitational perturbations exerted on respectively 25, 2, and 26 selected asteroids. These masses were calculated by means of the leastsquares method as weighted means of the values obtained separately from the perturbations on single asteroids. Special attention was paid to the selection of the...

I. I n t r o d u c t i o n The purpose of the SEQUOIA 2000 project is to build a better computing environment for global change researchers, hereafter referred to as SEQUOIA 2000 "clients." Global change researchers investigate issues of global warming, the Earth's radiation balance, the oceans' role in climate, ozone depletion and its effect on ocean productivity, snow hydrology and hydrochemi...

The species Antipathes dichotoma was established by Pallas in 1766 on the basis of a description given by Marsigli (1725) of a specimen collected in the Mediterranean off the coast of Marseille. Marsigli's specimen (Lithophyte no. 9) was described and illustrated as a loosely dichotomously branched colony with strong spines and a biserial arrangement of polyps, with each polyp appearing to have...

MOTIVATION Advancements in high-throughput technology have allowed researchers to examine the genetic etiology of complex human traits in a robust fashion. Although genome-wide association studies have identified many novel variants associated with hundreds of traits, a large proportion of the estimated trait heritability remains unexplained. One hypothesis is that the commonly used statistical...
