Abstract. One of the most important fundamental principles of official statistics, is the principle of Relevance, Impartiality, and professional ethics. Trust and ensure of the stakeholders and users of official statistics to the professional independency of National Statistical Offices (NSO) and the National Statistical System (NSS), as a social capital, is one of the most important factors fo...

Conventional Fuzzy regression using possibilistic concepts allows the identification of models from uncertain data sets. However, some limitations still exist. This paper deals with a revisited approach for possibilistic fuzzy regression methods. Indeed, a new modified fuzzy linear model form is introduced where the identified model output can envelop all the observed data and ensure a total in...

†University of Sfax, National Engineering School of Sfax, Control and Energy Management Laboratory, Sfax, BPW 30308, Tunisia Summary The human iris is attracting a lot of attention leading to an increased demand for a robust and reliable iris-based recognition system. However, typical systems have random performances which can be efficient for some contexts and not for others. Generally, in rea...

Fuzzy inference systems are widely used for classification and control. They can be designed from the training data. This paper describes a technique for deriving fuzzy classification rules from the interval-valued data. The technique based on a heuristic method of possibilistic clustering and a special method of the interval-valued data preprocessing. Basic concepts of the heuristic method of ...

In this paper, we show how a possibilistic uncertainty model can be used to represent and manipulate uncertainty about the states of a system and of its components. At the same time, we present a thorough study of the incorporation of this possibilistic uncertainty model in classical, two-state reliability theory. The possibilistic reliability of a component or system is introduced and studied....

We provide basic results for the development of a theory of possibilistic Markov processes. We define and study possibilistic Markov processes and possibilistic Markov chains, and derive a possibilistic analogon of the Chapman-Kolmogorov equation. We also show how possibilistic Markov processes can be constructed using one-step transition possibilities.

When the information about uncertainty cannot be quantified in a simple, probabilistic way, the topic of possibilistic decision theory is often a natural one to consider. The development of possibilistic decision theory has lead to a series of possibilistic criteria, e.g pessimistic possibilistic qualitative utility, possibilistic likely dominance , binary possibilistic utility and possibilisti...

Fuzzy set theory represents a uniform framework for extending the relational database model to han-, dle imprecision of information found in the real world. None of the existing proposals for data models handling imprecision has dealt with queries involvin aggregate operators. This paper presents a framewor for ek handling aggregates in the context of imprecise information. Two kinds of aggrega...

In this paper, a possibilistic disjunctive logic programming approach for modeling uncertain, incomplete and inconsistent information is defined. This approach introduces the use of possibilistic disjunctive clauses which are able to capture incomplete information and incomplete states of a knowledge base at the same time. By considering a possibilistic logic program as a possibilistic logic th...

Recently, a good set of logic programming semantics has been defined for capturing possibilistic logic program. Practically all of them follow a credulous reasoning approach. This means that given a possibilistic logic program one can infer a set of possibilistic models. However, sometimes it is desirable to associate just one possibilistic model to a given possibilistic logic program. One of t...
