Metathesis of propene to ethene and 2-butenes was studied over a series of MoOx/SBA-15 catalysts (molybdenum oxide supported on mesoporous silica SBA-15; Mo loading 2.1~13.3 wt%, apparent Mo surface density 0.2~2.5 nm). The catalysts have been prepared by an ion exchange technique. Nitrogen adsorption, HMAS-NMR, Raman, and FTIR spectroscopies were applied to characterize the catalysts. Adsorpti...

We have performed the synthesis of TiO2-MWCNT composites focusing on distribution photoactive phase carbon active sites existing in MWCNTs, and its effect properties for abatement propene. used different approaches dispersion MWCNTs during synthesis; 1) an ultrasound bath 5 minutes, 2) 60 3) probe min. observed that incorporation TiO2 improves catalytic activity photooxidation propene, but best...

We investigate the photolytic production of two radical intermediates in the reaction of OH with propene, one from addition of the hydroxyl radical to the terminal carbon and the other from addition to the center carbon. In a collision-free environment, we photodissociate a mixture of 1-bromo-2-propanol and 2-bromo-1-propanol at 193 nm to produce these radical intermediates. The data show two p...

An experimental methodology for a mechanistic analysis of gas phase chemical reactions is presented in the context of structure-reactivity relationships of metal oxide clusters relevant to photocatalysis. The spectroscopic approach is demonstrated with the investigation of the photoinduced oxygenation of propene on the V(4)O(11)(-) cluster, where the thermal activation and subsequent photoreact...

Abstract The interstellar discovery of the five cyano derivatives propene brings interest in analogous molecules that could be detected similar astronomical environments. In this context, ethynyl-propene are good candidates to observed Taurus Molecular Cloud (TMC-1), where other and ethynyl hydrocarbons such as ethane, allene, propene, cyclopentadiene, among others, have been detected. We inves...

The nitrogenase from wild-type Klebsiella pneumoniae reduces cyclopropene to cyclopropane and propene in the ratio 1:2 at pH 7.5. We show in this paper that the nitrogenase from a nifV mutant of K. pneumoniae also reduces cyclopropene to cyclopropane and propene, but the ratio of products is now 1:1.4. However, both nitrogenases exhibit the same Km for cyclopropene (2.1 x 10(4) +/- 0.2 x 10(4) ...

The CH(X(2)Π) + propene reaction is studied in the gas phase at 298 K and 4 Torr (533.3 Pa) using VUV synchrotron photoionization mass spectrometry. The dominant product channel is the formation of C4H6 (m/z 54) + H. By fitting experimental photoionization spectra to measured spectra of known C4H6 isomers, the following relative branching fractions are obtained: 1,3-butadiene (0.63 ± 0.13), 1,2...

A conductometric H2, NO2, and hydrocarbon gas sensor based on single-crystalline zinc oxide (ZnO) nanobelts has been developed. The nanobelt sensitive layer was deposited using a radio frequency (RF) magnetron sputterer. The microcharacterization study reveals that the nanobelts have a single crystal hexagonal structure with average thickness and width of about 10 and 50 nm, respectively. The s...

Molybdenum containing catalysts are widely used for the selective oxidation of propene in the presence of gas phase oxygen at temperatures above ~600 K. Crystalline (Mo,V,W)5O14 constitutes a three-dimensional model system for the more complex molybdenum based mixed oxide catalysts that are employed industrially for various partial oxidation reactions [1]. However, little is known about the coo...
