Some basic algebraic features of quasiparticle transformations are reviewed. Special nonlinear quasiparticle transformations are introduced leading to the second quantized counterparts of gerninal-type (correlated) wave functions. Algebraic representa-' tions of strong and weak orthogonality are discussed, and these issues are generalized to the case of non-orthogonal basis sets leading to the ...

This thesis details the investigation of the unconventional low-energy quasiparticle excitations in both hole-and electron-type cuprate superconductors through experimental studies and theoretical modeling. The experimental studies include spatially resolved scanning tunneling spectroscopy (STS) experiments and bulk magnetization measurements, and the theoretical modeling involves developing a ...

We study a model of quasiparticles on a two-dimensional square lattice coupled to Gaussian distributed dynamical molecular fields. We consider two types of such fields, a vector molecular field that couples to the quasiparticle spin-density and a scalar field coupled to the quasiparticle number density. The model describes quasiparticles coupled to spin or charge fluctuations, and is solved by ...

We investigate the self-organizing nature of relativistic quantum field theory in terms of canonical transformation and duality presenting simple but explicit examples of (φ)1+1 and (φ )1+1 theories. Our purpose is fulfilled by applying the oscillator representation (OR) method which allows us to convert the original strong interaction theory into a weekly interacting quasiparticle theory that ...

We develop a theory of quasiparticle localization in superconductors in situations without spin rotation invariance. We discuss the existence and properties of superconducting phases with localized/delocalized quasiparticle excitations in such systems in various dimensionalities. Implications for a variety of experimental systems, and to the properties of random Ising models in two dimensions, ...

The utility of isomers for exploring the nuclear landscape is discussed, including their role in superheavy-element research, and the possibility of observing neutron radioactivity. Emphasis is given to K isomers in deformed nuclei. Transition rates are examined in the NpNn scheme for 2and 3-quasiparticle K-isomer decays, and in connection with level densities for higher quasiparticle numbers.

In trying to explain the anomalously sharp dependence of thermal conductivity on magnetic field in the cuprate high tc superconductors, it was found that previous discussions of quasiparticle motion near the gap nodes were in error because of failure to take into account total current conservation. We present corrected equations of motion for quasiparticle motion and discuss their relationship ...

The study of the phenomenon of quantum weak turbulence is extended by determining the quasiparticle spectrum associated with such a system using a Green’s function approach. The quasiparticle spectrum calculated establishes the dissipative regime and the inertial regime, hence a Kolmogorov type of picture. PACS number(s): 47.27.Ak, 67.40.Db, 67.40.Vs, 03.40.Gc

Within a phenomenological quasiparticle model, the quark mass and temperature dependence of the QCD equation of state is discussed and compared with lattice QCD results. Different approximations for the quasiparticle dispersion relations are employed, scaling properties of the equation of state with quark mass and deconfinement temperature are investigated and a continuation to asymptotically l...
