1-1 Development background To cope with the recent rapid increase in communication traffic, various measures are being implemented for communication systems such as distributing traffic pathways using wireless LANs or other systems and increasing transmission capacity by introducing multiple-input/multiple-output (MIMO) technology or array antenna systems. The appearance of smartphones has acce...

What your microwave oven did for your kitchen, radio-frequency drying can do for your process. Radio-f requency (RF) drying is increasing in popularity in the textile industry because it is fast, effective, and economical. This bulletin will review the benefits of using RF to dry yarn packages. RF dryers can also dry most other textile products, including loose stock, hanks, muffs, cones, tops,...

This paper presents a comprehensive radio ontology. The ontology describes the communication/networking scenario, the RF devices, their components and protocols that they support, the policies, and the tasks to be performed. The developed ontology enables wireless Software-Defined Networks (SDN) composed of abstract heterogeneous Radio Frequency (RF) devices.

In the past few years, radio frequency (RF) devices, which are usually used in the vicinity of a human body, are increasing. The health effects of the electromagnetic (EM) waves from RF devices on the human body are dependent on the frequency and strength of the waves. The absorbed RF EM energy mainly contributes to tissue heating. The specific absorption rate (SAR) has been used as the standar...

We report an observation of radio-frequency (RF) -induced transparency in an optically dense medium of Pr31-doped Y2SiO5. We observed that the optical probe field had a gain when the RF pulse area was 2p. We also calculated the RF Rabi frequency in the medium by measuring the period of RF-induced transparency. © 1998 Optical Society of America [S0740-3224(98)00705-X] OCIS codes: 270.1670, 190.4...

We experimentally investigate the performance of 60 GHz double sideband (DSB) radio over fiber (RoF) links that employ dispersion compensating fiber (DCF). Error free transmission of 3 Gbps signals over 1 m of wireless distance is reported. In order to overcome experimentally observed chromatic dispersion (CD) induced power fading of radio frequency (RF) signal, we propose a method for improvem...

Radio Frequency Identification is a technology where data is transmitted via radio waves on the electromagnetic spectrum. An RFID system consists of a radio frequency transceiver which both transmits and receives signals, and a miniature transponder in the form of an RFID “tag” that houses an antenna for receiving signals and a tiny chip containing the RF circuitry and the information to be tra...

In this article, we show that the non-ideal Radio-Frequency (RF) front-ends have to be corrected in order to contribute in a Green radio development. In fact, the effects of typical RF imperfections, like nonlinearities, carrier frequency offsets, and IQ imbalances, can be compensated for, when digital correction algorithms are applied. Such algorithms enable Green applications (e.g., Orthogona...

A radio frequency (RF) photonic filter is experimentally demonstrated using an optical tapped delay line (TDL) based on an optical frequency comb and a periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) waveguide as multiplexer. The approach is used to implement RF filters with variable bandwidth, shape, and center-frequency.
